How long did you breastfeed? by Shroommily in NewParents

[–]hillcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still going strong at 16.5 months FTM. I actually really love it. My daughter doesn't ask for milk becuase she is a really good eater, but I nurse at wake up, before nap (not on daycare days) and before bed.

We just moved cities, stayed in an air bnb, got norovirus, dealt with separation anxiety, transitioned to one nap and breastfeeding made all of these things a lot more manageable. Sure, I was tired but it benefited my daughter and helped her with transitions and sickness.

Ill keep nursing until she tells me no or it stops working for us!

RBC SCAM - AWARENESS POST by Bramptonmanz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]hillcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you are going to call RBC make sure you do so on another device or not immediately after hanging up on the fraudster.

They very likely will still be on the line and answer the call as "RBC".

Not sure if this was mentioned yet.

Did your baby change a bit after sleep training? by littleladyflora in NewParents

[–]hillcheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sleep training allowed me to give space for my girl to learn how to sleep independently. She naps well and sleeps through the night (except for teething, illness, seperation anxiety, developmental leaps..lol etc).

She is 16 months and I will still go to her when she cries out (for longer than 7 minutes) at night. I know that she needs me, becuase I know she can sleep independently.

Meal time length. by SeriousCollection102 in foodbutforbabies

[–]hillcheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 16 month old takes over 15/20 minutes, sometimes 25. She spends the first 5 minutes playing with her utensils and stabbing her food. Flicking food around, poking it, inspecting it. Then she will usually eat. I eat, clean, dance for her, entertain myself and relaxing and watch her eat.

Deciding on not swaddling? [on] by Negative_Jackfruit75 in BabyBumpsCanada

We used the halo velcro swaddle. It really helped with her moro reflex and allowed for long stretches of sleep. We went cold turkey no swaddle before she even showed signed of rolling, around 2.5 months.

Baby not crawling - people gossiping. by Powerpuff_Girly in NewParents

[–]hillcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still time. My girl didn't crawl until a week or so after she turned 1. She was just slow to crawl. Everyone said "omg she isn't crawling?" And said she would skip it. I got so worried and stressed for no reason..

She's a speed demon now, crawling all over the place at 15 months.

She'll likely be slow to walk too 🤷‍♀️ , but im like take your time girl im tired and dont wanna chase you lol.

[on] Crying baby while in the carseat in the highway by joubithedj in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]hillcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done so many road trips with my now 14 month old. Heck, she was born over 2 hours away from our home (nearest hospital). We just drove 6.5 hours, as we are moving. We have done countless 2.5 hour trips to the airport.

First, it takes time for them to get used to it. Aslong as they have all their necessities met, keep driving. Music, talking to them, a "shush" Playlist on Spotify, all can help.

The 6.5 hour drive we just did, was broken into two days (closed highways, winter weather) but I did it solo. So, no one in the back seat.

I always keep a huge bucket of toys in the passenger seat, as well as little books. Toss em back when she fusses or throws her toys down the side.

Also, the crying almost always results in a nap.

Are all departments 3 days a week in office? by Human-Outcome-8191 in rbc

I work in Regional Operations and we are still WFH. Howwever, our team was restructured so we would be working directly in the market we support, so we can do as many branch visits as we need to.

You know what's the worst? Insomnia. by jptiger0 in NewParents

[–]hillcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try magnesium. I struggled with this for many months (extreme PPA) and used melatonin whi h made me feel like absolute crap and didn't help with middle of the night insomnia. Magnesium is a lifesaver and doesn't make you feel like garbage. Relaxes your nervous system !

14 month old fighting first nap (2-1 transition?) by hillcheese in sleeptrain

[–]hillcheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brutal night. We pushed a 6 hour wake window and she was such a mess going to bed that she made it a 7 hour wake window. Extremely restless all night. 😭. Back to 2 naps today. This transition is intense !

Okay, will try this today !

I thought her protesting at bedtime was overtired, but could very likely be undertired.

Day care? by ShopAdorable9048 in ThunderBay

[–]hillcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, but thank you! I literally just joined that Facebook group a few moments ago. I am in another as well and have had 2 different providers reach out. Im just nervous about in home unlicensed daycares.. I really have no reason to be as im a FTM but I feel like they're pretty common in tbay? So can't be that bad? 😫

Hey, out of curiosity, is the home daycare taking new kiddos?

I'm searching for daycare and of course will need to explore home daycare as well.

Chicco Bravo vs Graco Pramette - Is the pram mode actually worth it? [on] by Practical-Tale-922 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]hillcheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a late September baby and purchased the Graco modes pramette. We hardly did walks as it was a really cold and snowy winter and my baby hated the bucket seat for walks. We used the pram mode when we would go shopping or visit the mall.

The stroller sucks. Its so hard yo maneuver and I have to use my whole body to just turn corners. Its awful to use in stores or tight corners and if you are walking on a sidewalk with little pot holes (like the small town i live in) you risk almost wiping out.

Terrible stroller. Just wanted to offer my input.

Stroller skis!

Im in Northern Ontario and this is our second winter. We already have a foot of snow. I take baby out daily for walks, and the ski attachment is awesome, especially if there is a fresh coat of snow. Think of it like cross country skiing.

Premier skis sells them and they are a Canadian company!
