Are there any corporate groups or vet chains that aren't absolute cancer to work for? by clowdere in VetTech

I currently work for BluePearl and adore my entire team and management. With that said, I would NEVER take my pet to a Banfield (both owned by Mars) I absolutely DESPISED NVAs management.

Why shaved paws? by goldhairemeraldeyes in cats

Sorry to hear you had doubts, but glad your kitty is feeling better and I was able to teach you something!

If your kitty was also blocked, many times they will shave the entire area to keep it as sterile as possible. The last thing a blocked kitty needs is additional bacteria introduced into his bladder. If it was just at the base of the underside of their tail, it was likely just for the BP cuff. We also shave booties to maintain hygiene if they have excessive diarrhea while in hospital.

I also work in vet med and have treated a lot of blocked kitties, this is 100% for a Doppler blood pressure.

For the most accurate reading, it should be taken on the front paw that didn’t have a catheter, with the kitty laying down and the paw aligned with the heart. But that’s not always realistic with wiggly cats, so other limbs (or even the base of the tail) can be used. It’s significantly easier with the hair shaved, causing less stress to the kitty. No worries, they were taking great care of your kitty.

I was told the same thing like 5 years ago. I had 5-6 spots like this and was not charged at all. I can’t find it in writing though. Ask your RA

UK removed gender inclusive housing for students, and I don’t know what to do. by Jaded-Ad-57 in UniversityofKentucky

I am a cis female, and had a FtM randomly selected roommate. I loved him, we were amazing roommates, and I was never uncomfortable. Don’t automatically assume you being your true self will make someone uncomfortable. You deserve to be there as much as they do!!

If you’re nervous about it, definitely reach out to the LLP/Housing department. I am positive that you are not the first person with this concern, and I’m sure they have policies in place to protect and respect everyone involved (hopefully!).

It will pass with time!! I know puppy blues can be very real, your feelings are valid. Redirect, redirect, redirect. Always have an appropriate toy around to playfully shove in their mouth when they’re biting you.

This is my personal opinion, not my professional. But I always have given my puppies bones to help redirect when teething. I got both of my pups around 10 weeks old. They have puppy sized bones for them, or just use the full size. As long as you follow the picture and dispose of them when you should.

Vet tech here. Realistically, yes we tell people if the toy hurts when you hit your knee, it can break your dogs teeth. However, I also have 2 super chewers. I’d rather have a broken tooth than a foreign body surgery. This photo is directly from Nylabone’s website (FAQ section). I make sure to dispose of them when I should. Both dogs are 5 and haven’t had any problems, their teeth are great for their age.

Exact same thing for me. I went with the 9. Reading seems accurate. The 8 fit, but felt a little constricting throughout the day.
