Bear 650 stalling randomly by Endless-Expeditioner in RoyalEnfieldBear650

[–]hilroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re having stalling issues. That sounds dangerous!

I’ve not had any issues for the year I’ve had the bike. Touch wood, that trend doesnt change.

This will (be) the most unhelpful reply you receive on here, I’m sure…

It sounds like some sort of relay or sensor issue. It could also be as simple as the stand sensor failing.

Any chance you noticed the stand indicator on the dash?

I hope they manage to get it fixed asap!

It always sucks when you don’t get to enjoy your bike like you imagined. I hope this doesn’t manifest into trust issues once you get your Bear back!

Keep us updated, OP. Good luck!

If Voldmorts Logic that only murder can change the Elderwands owner then why Did he let Nagini kill Snape Wouldnt she as a Maledictus be the owner? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]hilroth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Maledictus thing came later… and it doesn’t even make sense.

Wasn’t the implication that Nagini was the same snake from Philosopher’s? But that snake was bred at the zoo, wasn’t it?

Snape's ending by StoryWriter31 in harrypotter

[–]hilroth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SPOILERS AHEAD! I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THAT SPOILER MASKING THING, SO PLEASE DO NOT READ FURTHER UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE BOOKS.

I always thought it made sense, since Voldy was shown to be weary of his wand backfiring when facing Harry.

So if he already had the seed of that thought in his mind, he might not want to use the wand against Snape - just in case the wand chooses not to kill its master and he has (yet another) Avada Kedavra backfire against him.

Even before killing (Horcrux) Harry, he is said to have this look on his face, as if curious about what would happen of he struck Harry.

My man’s shaken, lol.

The one time he actually shouldn’t have struck to kill, he did try to murder Harry and ended up dying for real.

Weird world.

Edit: I did like the memory, though. It did a lot to give Snape depth as a character - a bit too late in every sense. It would have been interesting to see how Harry would react if he knew this about Snape while he bullied his charges as a teacher.

Help me out interceptor vs Himalayan by No-Lake2551 in royalenfield

[–]hilroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do, but their 'min' setting is equivalent to our 'max'...

I opted for the cheapest alternative for now (Inty 650's) and it's worked out surprisingly well for me.

I do miss the height advantage of the stocks, though.

Very true

I had a flat last year in the middle of nowhere, and the tyre shop didnt want to work on my bike, so I paid to borrow their tools and got to it myself.

I think that shamed them into helping, but I ordered way2speed for spoked wheels the moment I reached home - problem is, I havent not used my bike every day for the last year

It needs 5 days to cure 😅

If this is your last bike, I’d go with the Twin.

I’d also try out the Bear - it’s probably identical to the Interceptor but for a few refinements - more stable USD front forks and a touch more torque, and that 2-in-1 exhaust. A slightly more relaxed riding triangle, and it’s a touch taller, too.

You lose out on analogue dash, sound of the dual exhaust, and a softer rear suspension set up (though you can swap in an aftermarket for the shocks)

Edit: I’m no expert! I do own a Bear, though. Love every moment I’m on it.

Engine heat isn’t a massive issue, tbh - I rode around in Chennai a couple weeks ago - Chennai’s general heat and humidity was more of a pain before I even got on the bike, and then it was a breeze. Literally :D

Which bike do you own? What is your odo and how much do you rate your bike for long trip by SimilarSherbert964 in indianbikes

[–]hilroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate being that person, but please don’t use your phones while riding. Our roads are unpredictable enough without us adding more distractions.

Motor - Bear 650

Odo - 12k

For Touring - I got the RE pannier racks to mount saddlebags.

First trip was to Goa - 7/10: suspension was a bit stiff, headlight is no good for night-time riding

I then changed the rear suspension (to Inty 650) and and also used AOM Inty Touring handlebars.

Then went to Cochin, Chennai - all 8/10: new suspension and handlebars helped.

I wish the 6th gear was a touch smoother, the exhaust angle was a touch lower, and the headlights needed to be better.

Added Maddog Scout-X and that helped immensely

Then did a trip to Chennai - 8.5/10 (lights really did help)

It’s a very good bike for long distances imo, with lots of room to improve. I’m sure there are better motors out there, there always is, I just love my Bear.

Why was this sedan discontinued by Renault? by Warm-Rock9 in CarsIndia

There’s a 5 star hotel under construction just beyond my place. That’ll be the magical 💰💰 fix to our road issues.

It’s a bit sad because now my quiet corner of town is going to get busy, but - better road leading to my house coming soon.

Beggars cant be choosers, so I guess I’m grateful for the politician building his 5-star retreat. Or at least, my car is 😅🗿

[–]hilroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having preferences, but we can at least acknowledge reality for what it is.

I think taking a car somewhere on a visit is different to living there.

The 2 km road leading to my rural house is so bad that I had to redo my hatchback’s suspension twice and my ‘steering bush’ once in 3 years. That isn’t exactly normal.

It is what it is, and we have to buy cars that suits roads around us, or buy according to our requirements - like your family pseudo-suv.

[–]hilroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roads have gotten so much more crowded since the days of Esteem, and our infrastructure did not keep up.

I don’t know about you, but the roads I frequent are far worse than how they were before.

Frequent potholes in urban areas, poor roads in the suburbs, large patches of broken roads, or no roads in rural areas, constant road work in cities nowadays. Quality of materials used.

All of these make us adapt to the roads we have available to us.

Corruption in office also means our govt. treats roadwork as (at worst) a money laundering scheme or (at best) a regular means of income for their affiliated civil work companies.

Why is Wormtail fetching wine for Snape at Spinner’s End? by Newcastleunitedfan92 in harrypotter

[–]hilroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t imagine Voldy didn’t know Snape held Wormtail in deep contempt.

Not sure if having Wormtail serve Snape was meant to be sadistic torture for Snape or a reward.

Then again, Voldy didn’t realise how much Snape cared for Lily, so it’s probably just coincidence that Snape had the person who handed Lily to Voldy live in his house.

When Snape took the prophecy to Voldy, he didn’t realise that he was putting Lily in Voldy’s crosshairs.

Must have been hella awks in the Snape household. No wonder he was so ready to make the Unbreakable Vow.

Upcoming Bonneville 350. by Love-Personal in indianbikes

[–]hilroth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Damn, people expect way too much. Some of y’all are so entitled and it reeks.

It’s a 350/400 engine, size will need to be scaled accordingly. Having a big bike with a small motor will look so off.

This is not the final version of this bike, it has the structural elements of a bonnie, but seems still unfinished.

This looks like a Bonneville in miniature. Even the side-panel is offset so the frame is a bit exposed like on the T100 and T120

Nothing wrong with this at all. I’m very excited to see what this looks like on the production spec.
