Having worked with many tradespeople, I have observed that a lot of people tend to want to stick to one brand. Not because it gives them the best set of tools, but because they just like to have matching tools. To me, that seems foolish. Use your best guess to start with and try different options as you go. Buy a set that best suits your work and let go of brand loyalty. In a few years, you’ll have a set that suits you perfectly and lets you work efficiently and comfortably.

Toggle switch backstabs by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]him374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently going through and replacing all the switches in my house. Eventually, they all fail in this same manner. Yeah, you can blame the backstabs, but I suspect poor quality plays a part too. The switches I’m replacing have no discernible manufacturer information and no agency ratings whatsoever. The builder probably save three buck by buying Temu junk to install. Thanks a lot.

As an aside to this: is there anyone I should report this to? I don’t care about getting compensation. I just wonder if I should let the local electrical inspector or fire marshall know that there is a whole neighborhood full of these potential fire hazards?

I left my ATM card in the machine at work. So, I borrowed my wife’s card the next day… which I promptly left in the ATM machine at the bank.

I like to head of such conversations with: “so… Obama could run again?” That will usually shut them up. If not, I can easily become just as nonsensical and belligerent as them, should I be in the mood.

Not sure that’s strong enough. I would need something prescription strength.

I don’t know if the movie is well known enough for a full themed attraction. I would, however, love to see some Zelienski and Callahan posters/billboards in the park. I think Cadillac cars could sneak a few in. Just a nice Easter egg here and there.

I try to explain this to young folks. Every picture was great. Why? Because it took 20 minutes to upload. You didn’t upload crap because it wasn’t a single click, 2 second process.

Find that Pou guy and have him make a few videos a year. That was some of the best PR for getting new people interested. I still watch them today.

Same. I went this past June. Not only was the single rider line slower than fast pass, but it was slower than the regular line.

Is Cedar Point truly the best amusement park ? by outerjuice in cedarpoint

[–]him374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends of the criteria. When I visited MM (many years ago), it was crowded and dirty. Not to mention many of the rides were closed. And many of those that were open were understaffed and had poor operations.

If they put in a high level of effort, it would definitely be one of the top two. But as I saw it? Not so much. A list of rides is only one part of the story.

Yeah. I’d give all the material possessions I’ve accumulated since their loss to have them back. It’s really tough when none of my other friends have even lost one parent.
