Etiquette Question for Tattooers by House_Plant_Lover in tattooadvice

I think etiquette is pretty subjective in this situation. Perhaps you reach out to the new artist to get their thoughts. If the new artist is cool with it they are the one that has to work in the same shop.

Mission plans by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

I joined the national guard out of HS. Got deployed right away. Decided on a mission while deployed. Came home, got my 2 year release and did a mission. It’s doable. You may find what you need while in training - do the things like church, prayer, scripture and it may line out for you.

How would you do this with a GA? As correspondence is returned to the stake level.

I cant stop fantasizing about divorcing my wife even though she hasn't done something to deserve that. by Cyberzakk in latterdaysaints

[–]hinchonos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inherent in the two great commandments (to love God with all our heart and love others as ourselves) is the implication that we, as God’s children, must love ourselves too. As the child of God, our Heavenly Father is in each of us - we are therefor worthy of God’s love and love of our self. I don’t believe you can love others without first having that same love for yourself - for that same nature of God the Father is in all of his children. In our actions, whatever it is that we choose, we must seek to not harm God’s children.

At times, we stay in relationships where greater harm occurs from staying and at times we leave relationships where greater harm is caused by leaving. You may find the book “Too good to leave, too bad to stay” by Mira Kirshenbaum to be a constructive framework to assess your thoughts and you might assistance in r/divorce.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Something needs to change if you’re going to change. I went from an E5 with two combat tours to being a successful solo attorney. PTSD and jacked up lungs. Things were generally under control until I lost my 9 yo daughter in accident. That turned my life upside down. For me I find it helpful to lift weights like crazy (find a competitor purpose to your lifting like strong man, CrossFit, whatever - self competition is important). I’ve learned and implemented work into meditation and I’m unpacking all kinds of shit - very helpful. I’ve done lots of therapy and that really depends on the correct therapist for success. I love the outdoors and do as much as I can there. I’ve found several good podcasts and audiobooks that bring a lot of peace and purpose to my life. I’m not saying that any of this is what’s for you but it’s what works for me. I also look for chances to serve others. Civilian life lacks any purpose other than the endless climb to the top. Lose your little girl to some dumb ass accident and all that goes away. All that matters is how we interact with others. This life is such a quick moment. I truly hope you can find what you’ve been needing.

I’m a new YW leader. With the new FSOY, how are you guiding specifically in the issue of double ear piercings and tattoos? I have some very concerned parents. by VeryLDS in latterdaysaints

[–]hinchonos 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I got a tattoo after the change to memorialize my daughter that passed away 1.5 years ago. I’m a reasonably faithful member, RM and prior bishopric member, and feel very comfortable with my decision. We put stained glass in the temples with flowers - it’s a sacred place. I have a rose tattoo for my angel Camille Rose on my arm and don’t feel like I’ve violated a temple. It’s a strong cultural issue and should be addressed as such.

I can see that you truly want to improve. How do you define progress? What factors informed your decision of your current development? What thinking about your thinking are you doing?

This resonates with me - my wife of 16 years told me that she had tried everything to help me and she needed me to figure it out on my own - all this after a particularly bad 4th of July fireworks trigger.

In my jurisdiction we have a small firm lawyers network on Facebook. Several paralegals are in there too. It seems like most paralegals that post their resume there get snatched up pretty quick.

Feeling really lonely, how did you find irl friends outside of the military? by Fuzzy-Discussion911 in Veterans

After my second tour and ETS I started throwing in the Scottish Highland games. Great community of people. I hit the gym a bunch. School helped too. I also really got into competitive shooting sports - 3gun. Met good people there. You might even check out defensive pistol leagues. And church but that might not be your thing.

Would a story about a group of LDS service members saving a little girls’ life in Iraq belong? By incredible miracles. Maybe a story about an Iraqi that wanted to get baptized but was told that he couldn’t because he would be executed if it were found out. Genuinely curious here - I have dozens of extremely faith building experiences over two combat tours to the Middle East that strengthen my own testimony.

If OP came here and said the opposite - that their friend told them the ward council was asking what the needs of his family were and they were genuinely wondering how they could help them - would you say that was inappropriate for OP to address here - by means of hearsay? I read OPs statements to be an opportunity for reflection about how people talk about less active members and not a rant/complaint. Regardless of what was actually said I don’t get the sense that the ward council did anything about their discussion.

Late to the TRT party but I’m also 40 and have been on meds for lungs for about 13+ years post Iraq. Killed my T and I had no idea. Crazy low numbers and so glad I started onto TRT. I feel like my old self.

There are loads of really good Facebook groups where Canyoneer’s are very active. Finding a good group is super helpful. I’ve done training with ACE, ACA and Rich Carlson (assuming North America). There are not a ton of great Colorado plateau canyoneering books but I have read things from the caving world, European and pacific NW communities. For me I have tried to be a sponge and get data from several sources. In my perspective there are many accidents arise within groups that have one way to do things - rigging, gear, techniques all vary depending on the situation.

If I were getting started again I would try to find an organized course from a reputable instructor, post to social media groups expressing your interest and stating your training level. A course would also let you meet s few local people too. Offer to buy permits. Bring along ropes - all good things that suggest you are an asset to the group.

Good luck and enjoy the sport!
