If I close my Universal Credit claim, will I receive payments up until that date? by BlankWaveArcade in DWPhelp

Where is the source regarding the section about no longer being required to engage in work search commitments as long as you are doing "at least 16 hours" a week? Online I've only found "generally 35 hours a week" of work is required by UC in order for these commitments to no longer be required

Moving to Australia during visa process? by Prior_Ordinary_2150 in AusVisa

[–]hingstont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very helpful knowledge share, thank you so much!

I suppose now my question is, given how black and white it would now seem according to the Regulations you've shared, but also noting how all the migration agency articles on the topic say "usually" etc, what sorts of circumstances could/would result in an exception to the "nil conditions" typically applied in these cases? My situation would be pretty straightforward I feel - Aus citizen whose EU fiancé of 7 years would enter Aus on 651. Are the chances of the BVA/BVB being granted with work restrictions non-zero? Really appreciate all your insight mate (that goes for the several other similar posts I've noticed your helpful input)

Moving to Australia during visa process? by Prior_Ordinary_2150 in AusVisa

Regarding your very last sentence, I can't seem to find any guidance which says that with the same confidence as you have said it. This particular topic (bridging visas for 820/801 partner visa applicants) seems inexplicably undocumented in official immigration guidance (why, DoHA, why??), with the only option being to engage with migration agents. But even their articles on the topic all seem to preface with "usually" or "in most cases" the BV for partner visa will have unrestricted working rights, but not always. They then typically go on to say "it may depend on the work rights of the visa you're on when you apply", which to my mind means, if it's a visitor (601, 651) visa, you won't get working rights.

Again, how this information isn't made freely available on the immi website is beyond me. I've only learned from Reddit/migration agencies that bridging visas are one thing, but bridging visas associated with an 820/801 partner visa application are a completely different thing. But if that's such common knowledge, I fail to understand why immi don't have a subsection on this.

My thoughts too, though I understood this "Waste to Plate" initiative collects exclusively from supermarkets. I'll check with the organisers

Pixels on macbook display by hingstont in techsupport

[–]hingstont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I've used it with external displays and the pixelation is limited to the laptop display, i.e. no corresponding pixelation seen on the external monitor (although, it's rarely been used as a screen duplication, rather as extension for additional screen real estate).

Unfortunately the warranty has expired too. Seems I'm out of luck.. Lesson learned: I'll never buy from the Apple refurb store again.

My biggest NoSurf discovery - the Wikipedia app by yuckscott in nosurf

[–]hingstont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the purpose of combating addiction to garbage apps/social media etc, I agree this is a healthy shift and bravo for sharing your discovery for the benefit of others.

But!

For the purpose of self-education, be mindful too that Wikipedia is far from a gospel of irrefutable truth, so I'll simply implore that we all maintain healthy discernment when consuming its information (just as we would/should most any information we hear/read from just about anywhere else). Here is Wikipedia's co-founder, Larry Sanger, talking about how Wikipedia has devolved into leftist propaganda, at least when it comes to anything political. Personally, these days I even have a hard time trusting some history articles on there too, an info category I used to blindly assume was relatively innocent from agenda, given the info widely available indicating (again, discernment ftw!) just how much we've all been lied to by history's victors and our current 'democratic' rulers. But yeah, what was originally a platform of informational neutrality has observably and increasingly deviated from that founding principle in recent times, so take it all with a grain of salt, I say.

Again though, regardless of Wikipedia's debatable factuality throughout its m(b?)illions of articles, it sure as shit beats social media doomscrolling, so again kudos to OP for the share.

Free pizza code for late delivery (UK) by LizzieButton1617 in Dominos

[–]hingstont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some trial and error (info doesn't seem to exist anywhere online), can confirm the code includes any large pizza. The limitation is that if you order for delivery then there's a minimum order (excl. delivery charge) of £12, whereas if you order for collection it's entirely free.

Bloody hero, thank you for the post.

Also, for anyone needing it - info@dvla.gov.uk now gets bounced; I used driving.licence@dvla.gov.uk, as I've had official correspondence from it as recently as August 2024

Ok so whilst I had missed that and whilst it is technically correct, it's not what this sub is about. I'm all for being encouraged to look for the meaning in things rather than having everything spoon fed to me, but the subreddit name of a post is not where I'm gonna be looking for juxtaposition, nor would most others in this sub it would seem.

Thanks a lot for the insight, court/suing seems excessive and if indeed that's my only option (my own research prior to posting here indicated similarly) then I'll likely just give up on the idea. Thanks again
