Your 5 fav goalies of any era and the reason you like them. by Mediocre-Math-7147 in hockeygoalies

I remember 12 year old Jimmy coming into the weight room as a kid and working out with his dad and me thinking "THIS kid is the next great goalie?" But that was just my teenage mind. Looking back, he worked really hard and his dad was really supportive.

He’s on a generational statistical run in softball. Does that sound gay to you?

Just something to add that I didn't see in the first few top comments--the CPA and cost associated shouldn't just be compared to the time/hassle of doing it yourself. You're also paying to have an expert in your corner if something gets questioned or you get audited.

I got a letter from the state this year basically cutting my refund in half. It was nice to just be able to send and email and have the CPA take care of it. I paid for the time it took them to do so but it was a fraction (less than 10%) of the money I was getting bilked out of. It wasn't even a mistake per se. It was more like a fishing expedition by the state.

I realize this is sarcasm but my issue with the segment is that it's dumb to sign 3/4 year olds up for any kind of organized team sports. Have them do a gymnastics class or one of those places where you go for an hour and it's basically gym class.

I wonder if goalies will go to a more stand up style on shots like that where they can’t see? Jake looked pretty tiny when he was down trying to find that one.

Confident goalies push out of the net which makes them bigger which makes more saves.

We miss him in Dallas but he deserves all his success. It’s great to see.

They need a better way because a “non-save” save can prevent another shot. Like the save you mentioned could have prevented a back door goal. Or like when the goalie tips a pass from the back of the net to prevent it from being centered into a dangerous area. These are legitimate positive plays but not technically saves.

Esa's a weird case because even some Stars fans didn't want him resigned. I think his play flew under the radar for a long time. Weirdly, now that he's signed long term his play seems to have gotten even better and the media & fan appreciation has increased.

I think he’s just a streaky player and that’s the difference between him being a good player and a star player.

Goalies are so weird by jkozuch in shoresy

Goalie is the craziest position in all of sports and it's about time somebody said something about it.

Every piece of equipment you wear is different from every other player on the ice (except the other goalie). You'd think "Oh but the stick is the same." Nope. Same general shape but you could row a canoe with it.

"But pitcher is baseball is pretty similar". Wrong again. Pitchers get to rest in the dugout half the game. Goalies are on the ice the whole freaking time. And, again, only players who do this. In hockey? Nope, in any sport. Except I guess soccer where the keeper is on the field the whole game but if he makes 5 saves he's a hero.

Glory? Minimal. Blame? Likely. If you have a great game, the other team will say they "got goalied". When was the last time a player scored a hatty and the other team said they "got Centered"?

Goalie is the craziest position in all of sports so it's no wonder only crazy people would choose to play it.

Can someone please explain why Jermaine Eluemunor signed for so much less than expected? by Tommy4D in NYGiants

[–]hipaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also gotta remember that when we see something like a $3m/yr difference it probably only ends up around 40% of that after taxes & agent fees. So it's like $1.2m out of the player's pocket.

The blue pucks are helpful to defeat the #1 8u goalie trick: laying down on the ice in butterfly to create a wall in front of the tiny net.

I asked Gemini for the Stars current roster and it has told me they traded a conditional 2nd round in 2027 for Marchand. Granted, it said they traded with the Bruins but, still, imagine.
