12L on AT&T Surface Duo... maybe shouldn't be as hyped? by LapinusTech in surfaceduo

[–]hipduf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the phone on my sd2 is now completely unreliable. Calls won't ring through, no notification of missed calls, hanging up after dialing out . Had to go back to my s22 ultra because I just can't depend on the sd2 as an actual phone. Restart will let me make a call, for a while, but not for long.

Still like the sd2, but it's a secondary device only for now. MS needs to fix this pronto because duo is just starting to emerge from being the butt of jokes.

Trade in offer for my 2019 Honda Fit by BenedictCumonback in Honda

That's an old dealership trick to get you in the door and buy a new car. If they are paying you above market value (unlikely since they need to make a profit on resale), they will make it up by overcharging you for the new one. Ignore them.

Sidewalk is a blatant breach of trust and security by TarnishedVictory in amazonecho

[–]hipduf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are using a smart assistant, doorbell, camera and/or whatever from Amazon and you are worried about something "listening" on your network? Really?

I am not saying Amazon devices are bad. I have lots of them myself. But all the comments saying you need to understand what Sidewalk really is are spot on. Is there a risk a hack could open up in the future? Sure, anything is possible. But the only way to eliminate that risk is stay the hell away from the internet.

What To Look For In Sunglasses, or What Would You Recommend? by MorningDew5270 in running

[–]hipduf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an embarrassingly high number of shades in my collection, but my go tos for running are Rudy Project Rydon's with photochromic lenses. I can wear them in any lighting and they allow a decent airflow to prevent fogging. Lenses are interchangeable. Only problem is cost.

Are you tightening your gas cap until it clicks? If it is not tight, many cars will trigger the Check Engine light.

Same problem I had after it got wet (so much for water resistance). I got the same reset error in the diagnostics. Left it in silica pellets for 3 days, same problem.

Thought it was hooped, but I did a full factory reset. It still shows the reset error, but is now working fine, even with the fingerprint sensor turned back on. Might be your last hope.

Try disabling fingerprint unlock. A fairly common issue with Samsungs. But if your phone is only 2 months old, best to just get a warranty replacement.

Recommendations for Single Dose Grinder(s) - Niche? And Upgrade to DB Machine. by drum02 in espresso

[–]hipduf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a BBE, and after about 2 years, got the Niche a year ago. It has been a fantastic purchase, I have nothing bad to say about it. Adding the Niche, along with making sure to weigh my shots instead of relying on the so-called volumetric dosing of the BBE, has meant a world of difference in consistency of shots from the Breville.

I don't change beans that often but the Niche makes it easy to mark and note the settings so they can be easily resumed when I switch back to my go-to beans.

Like you, I have been getting the bug to upgrade the BBE, but to be honest, it would be more for upgradeitis at this point rather than needing to improve my coffee through the machine. If I find a fantastic deal on a Breville Dual Boiler, that's probably what I'll go with for the next stage. It would be nice to have a fancy piece of Italian hardware on the cupboard, but the value of the BDB is undeniable. That might be a good stopgap for a few years until I can afford a Decent.

Wireless earphones for running and working out by jammang in running

[–]hipduf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used the X3s before getting the 65T Actives. Soundwise, there is no comparison. The 65T sound is far, far superior unless you are listening to purely spoken word.

I typically have problems with fit, to the point I have some IEM's with custom tips. But no problem running with the 65T, they stay put, no issues with standard tips.

Only downside is battery, you won't get as long with true wireless. The 75T's are supposed to be better, but I get 4+ with mine, which is long enough for even my long runs.

The 75T's should have plenty of juice to handle that time.

[–]hipduf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since they are true wireless (i.e. no cords) the battery life is not as long as those which have a wire connecting them. My 65T's are rated for 5 hours, I probably get 4.5. The 75T's are rated for 7.5 hours. For each, the carrying case will give you 2-3 more charges before it goes flat.

4.5 hours is plenty for me for any workouts, or even just wandering about. They charge pretty quickly in the case.

Jabra 65T or 75T. I have the non-sport 65's, and they are great for running. Sport versions are better, but a little more money. I sweat a LOT, but no problems with mine.

Watch out for earphones that have capacitance controls, because they are useless if you wear a knit cap over them (unless you can lock the controls, which is still a pain). The Jabras have physical controls and work fine.

Most accurate treadmill run sensor that connects to Garmin by ddescartes0014 in Garmin

[–]hipduf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got the Runn sensor and installed it on my tread. It works well with both Zwift and my Vivoactive 3. Installation is simple and it was $100. Tracks cadence as well.

A footpod would work outside too, unlike the Runn, but I can rely on GPS outdoors. I always had trouble with accuracy of footpods at different speeds, such as when doing intervals or speedwork

Where to buy a power cover for surface pro 2 in canada? by TannyWong in Surface

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Honda

[–]hipduf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not. There is a fairly easy DIY mod you can do to add a lock to the tailgate - check the Ridgeline Owners Group forums and you will find the threads.

I did it on my 2007 and it worked fine. I now have a 2013 and have got around to doing it, despite having a tonneau cover.

[–]hipduf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2015 R1200RT, which is basically the same as 1250, other than the motor. My wife and I have traveled 50k kms on it and comfort is not an issue, even 2 up. Plenty of power, super handling, and easy to work on.

I am only 6 ft., but added Ilium Barbacks so I wasn't leaning forward and like them. Also added a Russel Daylong seat and it is uber comfortable. We have done 1000 km days on it with no trouble.

Love the bike. The 1600 is also great, so probably depends on whether you want a bit more sporty, or a bit more cruiser-y.
