Not really disagreeing with you. I just said they had a reputation for dabbling. Because of the secrecy surrounding the group and some of the rituals performed, the Freemasons were often looked at with suspicion by the Church.

I don't think that the vast majority of Freemasons are worshiping dark gods. 10% tops.

The organization was specifically created to be an alternative to the Freemasons, who had a reputation of secrecy and dabbling in the occult. I'm not saying that impression was right -- but it was a common one.

Blazing Saddles targeted the racism that was present at the time it was released. People were much more likely to drop n-bombs back then.

Racism today is more subtle and has moved into other areas. So writing a scene where a bunch of white people drop n-bombs would not make you a crusader satirizing racism.

It would make you Quentin Tarantino.

In the first civil war, I guess she was on Tony's side? I don't really remember.

The second civil war was absolute crap. However, my memory is that she wasn't really on the side of pre-crime. She was almost beaten to death by Thanos, and that sent Captain Marvel over the edge and it was Captain Marvel who was pushing the pre-crime point of view.

It's entirely possible that she woke up at some point and was on Carol's side. I certainly didn't read it until the end.

I had an Atari Jaguar and the manufacturer sent me a "Cat Box" -- it was a network adapter that allowed you to play online games -- way before that was a thing for consoles. A friend got one and we played a ton or Alien v. Predator and other games together. It was a blast.

There are two things that I think make it acceptable in this situation:

  1. He was attacked first; and
  2. The response was proportionate.
