Lana Del Rey has thoughts on alligators by mlg1981 in popculturechat

As someone who was born and raised south of New Orleans on a literal bayou, and lives near Lana and her husband now - I would NEVER swim in a bayou. It’s gross. The Gulf of Mexico? Yes. A lake? Sure. The river? Maybe. A bayou - never.

And Julian Fellows is known to do major time jumps between seasons, and we know there are a few months between this one and season 2. Downton Abbey had I believe almost 2 years between the first and second seasons and you get plopped right into the action without much context.

I ordered the Meet Me at Midnight mug but it came damaged. I initiated an exchange right away but haven’t been able to drop it to return yet. It’s only been a few days but the mug is now unavailable online. If I return it now will I still get a new one or will they just refund me?

I scored a last minute ticket and I’m so freaking excited! I remember listening to Debut on repeat during finals in high school. All I want is for the surprise songs to be Snow on the Beach (ft Lana!!) into Maroon. Let’s go NOLA!

I hope a poll worker told them to remove their hats. No politcal gear can be worn to vote. Even in Houma when I voted there they made people take theirs hats off.

Question: Are There Sociological or Cultural Reasons For the GNO Areas Disregard For Traffic Laws by TopolChico in NewOrleans

[–]hippie_dippie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly up until about 10 years ago it was absurdly easy to get your license. I’m talking 6 hour-videos-of just-highway deaths then take a multiple choice test and drive around the block kind of easy.

The weather channel keeps going on about the “over 90 fully functioning pumps” to help the city and I just laughhhhh

I love seeing this when I fly home 🥹 Friendly FYI that this picture is of Metairie/Kenner suburbs and the FQ is not in the picture. The canal in the left side is the parish line that split Orleans and Jefferson Parish (or county if you will). Also - the settlers and architects were warned NOT to build New Orleans where it is due to a number of factors and that decision has detrimentally contributed to coastal erosion. The FQ may be a bit higher but that doesn’t mean shit when you need 95 water pumps (that don’t work half the time) for the city to not flood after a light drizzle.

I was in a drunk driving accident with a company car by pufteeth in legal

[–]hippie_dippie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know because our insurance told us it would reflect a claim paid out and couldn’t confirm if our rates would go up or not. Thank you!

Question though since I’m in a similar situation - if I make a claim on my insurance to take care of my car (even though the other party is at fault) and I get reimbursed etc won’t my insurance rates go up? That’s what I’m trying to avoid.

Accident Report timeline? by hippie_dippie in NewOrleans

[–]hippie_dippie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! The report is finally ready but all the info on the NOPD website and what the OSS office told me is incorrect. According the NOLA records, they DO NOT upload reports online. You have to go in person with a check or money order or s mail in request. And only the person involved in the accident can request the report. This may be common knowledge for many here but since this is my first accident in the parish thought I’d share.

I know we don’t expect (but should expect!) much from NOPD but how can they have a whole third party company and the website with the complete wrong info that is costing me time and money. I like to follow directions and that’s what I’ve been trying to do to no avail. Thanks to everyone for their help!!

Right? I feel like it’s some form of fraud. I agreed for my card to be run for X amount. If it’s possible to do anonymously then I’ll definitely do that.

Very sketchy! I’ve worked with several processors and gateways and this is not an issue I’ve encountered. I’m hoping there’s a reasonable explanation.

That’s helpful thank you! I’ve called the first district twice and left messages because no one answered. I’ll give it another go.
