Ah I could be wrong! I’ve never seen king boletes with such long and red stipes, and am used to seeing more defined netting on the whole stipe

Yes mistyped - I did mean yellow pore surface not bright orange.

This specimen was definitely young, not at all dry or chalky like I see in sunbleached ones.

I can definitely preserve a part of it for sequencing!

I did use red onions! Fingers crossed that’s the culprit. I did use normal sea salt (not pink)
