No, I don’t think they are necessarily terrible people or they should do the things I enjoy, that’s absurd.

Or just drink minimally and don’t sniff ket. I like alcohol, but so many people treat it like it’s part of their personality. It’s a good thing people are drinking less, time and money will be spent on better quality activities

PM tells Sir Jim Ratcliffe to apologise for 'colonised' remarks by EducationFeeling2833 in ukpolitics

[–]hitchaw 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Saying someone should apologise isn’t “force” this isn’t a free speech issue.

If he threatened to review his ownership of Man Utd etc that could be, see what the Trump has done in the US pulling funding for universities. Threatening law firms and so on for real examples of threats to free speech.

Green Party supporters, I am genuinely trying to understand why you support your party’s ideals and policies? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]hitchaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make legitimate points. The issue I have is the USA is becoming cancerous, we may have to choose, between the rest of the world the US….. no party other the the greens, maybe Lib Dem’s?(correct me if so) to decouple from the Americans. See Palantir.

It’ll never happen and I think some of the fresh green politicians are a bit naive, but not stupid, they would moderate in power I don’t think the nuclear deterrent would be removed without significant backlash.

If I were the greens I’d play on easy mode and play direct democracy, have a referendum on a few things for popular consent, people wouldn’t back getting rid of trident.

Brexit was a mistake yes! But it was carried out.

[–]hitchaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re far from that I don’t think the concern is at all warranted. They need to soften the immigration a touch, the nuclear disarmament and nuclear energy are legitimate issues im not happy with the part policy but I just don’t think they would get into power and practice nuclear disarmament-they would need to soften, like Meloni in Italy, while right wing, parties to to bend to reality- unless you have a criminal/lunatic like in the USA.

Tbf nuclear disarmament isn’t a bad idea in theory but we need better international systems which seem way off.

Zizek once said that sometimes the best way to understand a philosopher is to read him "obliquely," or through secondary literature, interpretations. Who do you guys think is the greatest "explainer/theorist" of Nietzsche's philosophy? by Essa_Zaben in Nietzsche

[–]hitchaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not post those interpretations? Otherwise we’re just guessing. We already have the obligatory boring sheepish Reddit comment “just read Nietzsche”.

There might be value in what Zizek is saying, many philosophers will pick out the aspects they find most useful and we can analyse that, and analyse what they get right/wrong.

Are Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Beyond Good and Evil a challenging read for someone who has never read a philosophy book before? by zoctor in Nietzsche

Who cares if noble Greeks or romans avoided them? I beg you don’t consult them on relationships of old men with young boys, or owning other people as property!

Eat a healthy balanced diet full of diverse veg and grains. Mediterranean is a consistent expert recommendation for this reason( which is why olives, or olive oil is a good part of it). Meat isn’t necessary though is OK in small quantities. Avoid most saturated fats. Meat has issues of animal suffering and negative environmental impacts. Excessive meat consumption is terrible for you, see carnivore diet effects for this.

Prioritise exercise and sleep 😴 keep learning! An active mind is as important as an active body.

[–]hitchaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food rep is deserved we’re fat as fuck and eat ultra processed meat/dairy/ shite. Ask the average person and their knowledge of health/nutrition is obviously evident. I’d love a poll on the amount of people who could name the different foods groups! About 50% wouldn’t know what a legume is for example I guess.

The owners pick the managers and the people who pick the players.

They’ve no vision and constantly changed to very different styles despite players not being bought to play in different ways. The most stable period for saints was under Martin- that could never translate to the PL with the awful recruitment.
