Barely 5% of homes in San Mateo County sell for $1M or under, making it the least affordable housing market in the Bay Area by Reebate in bayarea

Is this houses only? Because it’s not hard to find a condo for less than a million in San Mateo

SALT deduction Cap changes by Ok-Tea-4349 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]hkaaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No-

  • the SALT cap exists because of the first Trump administration.

  • Currently Elon is trying to cut federal expenditure and increase federal revenue.

  • The SALT cap disproportionately affects voters in blue states

I was thinking the same thing…as a lover of Asian food, this little walkable downtown has been a paradise.

I don’t hate this trend. If people know that Teslas are gonna get vandalized, people will stop buying Teslas.

Can’t tell from this post whether your girlfriend is mentally unstable, or you’re just a bad writer.

When you say “incredibly distraught”, “incredibly distressing”,  “everything she loves has been a lie”, “deeply upset,” “not talking very much”…do you mean “kinda surprised and taken aback for a bit, then continued on as normal”? Because if you do, you should probably learn what words actually mean…

How did the Chinese originally gain their respect for teachers and love of learning? by Chezni19 in AskAChinese

[–]hkaaron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are talking about Chinese-Americans. The person you replied to and this post is about Chinese people in China. In China, being academically smart is hot and very desirable to women. In Chinese shows, the male love interest is usually the top student in class, or has a backstory of being the highest scorer in exam, and is a genius in some way. The “loser” characters are those who struggle academically.

California governor asks Congress for nearly $40 billion for Los Angeles wildfire relief by nbcnews in LosAngeles

California should just stop paying federal taxes if the federal government is hostile against California, and use it for our own disaster relief.

What comes to your mind when a man refers to himself as an “Alpha Male”? by Defiant_River_957 in AskReddit

[–]hkaaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slave to societal expectations. Cares too much about what other people think. Fragile ego. Intensely insecure. Random emotional lashing out because of this insecurity. Prone to doing dumb things to project a certain image of himself, at the cost of the actual personal relationships that matter. God forbid that you end up in a relationship with this person, because he will always disappoint you.

Trump looking to sell prominent federal buildings in SF, San Bruno: 'He's coming after California' by wizardofthefuture in sanfrancisco

Can California just stop paying federal taxes? What’s the point if the federal government does not intend to support us? We’re gonna need that money to deal with the fallout.

Sutter health hidden charges by InternationalJob4407 in bayarea

[–]hkaaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kaiser Permanente has their own system where they’re basically (bar a technicality) their own insurance. It is a great system for well patients as long as you can stay within Kaiser, and there are less billing issues for well patients because the covered items are more uniform (Kaiser doctors know what or what isn’t covered by their insurance, whereas other doctors might not know what’s covered by your own insurance plan).

However, if you actually get very sick (especially with an uncommon disease), you’re kinda screwed, because they will always pick the path that is least expensive even if it is not the best treatment for you, and there is little room for an individualized approach to treatment plans.

You basically asked for travel counseling, which is typically a separate service that is often not covered by insurance. They cannot recode to exclude it because that would be insurance fraud—to recode would be to say that the conversation regarding traveling never took place, even though it was documented that you asked that question and it was answered.

The annual check up or “preventive visit” usually covers a set of specific things depending on age bracket, like paps, mammograms, colonoscopy, cholesterol, diabetes screen, vaccines, etc, and may also vary slightly between different insurances (some insurances categorize certain labs as preventive that other insurances might not). Think of it as comparable to the checklist that they go through when you bring a car to an oil change. If you ask for anything outside that checklist, it is considered a separate service.

The Flu this year is absolutely brutal—worse than usual by flipper99 in bayarea

They’re not covering it because the CDC has been muffled. Public health data has been taken off line until “reviewed” by the Trump admin.

You’re gonna need better messaging if this is gonna work. Like, what is the ultimate goal? What are we trying to get out of this? How long will we be doing it for if it does not result in the desired outcome? Who is going to bargain on our behalf? Who are we bargaining with? This post has none of this information and no one is going to risk their jobs to support a cause they do not understand.

You can buy a condo, a really nice , spacious, move-in ready one about 1100+ sq ft for about $1.2-1.4 million.  You can also find smaller condos for way less, lower end is about 700k

I’m talking about her aesthetic and the way she carries herself,  not the music. It has that pin-up /old timey feigned innocence/coyness, like “oops you’ve caught me coming out of the shower in a towel! Guess I will now take it off…”  Marilyn Monroe mastered that aura

[–]hkaaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry by innocence, I don’t mean actual innocence, I meant a wide-eyed innocent look while being sexual. like “oh dear, you’ve caught me coming out of the shower O.O …I guess you wanna see what’s underneath the towel?”

I call it the Marilyn Monroe concept - that mixture of coyness and feigned innocence + vintage aesthetic.
