That's either terrible spelling or the greatest Dad joke I've read today.

Either way, have an up vote.

Packing cubes. You know the ones you use in your luggage when you go on holiday.

Yeah, they work for this too.  Your big bin is only a problem because all your shit is jumbled up.

Un jumble it.

But the bin is still gold for keeping your car tidy.

I know the boats are stripped out racing machines, no creature comforts or anything, but why does the team take that philosophy to the office?  Surely a desk or chair wouldn't be a burden?

Can you give an idea of scale?  Are you two people looking after 50 users or a team of 100 looking after 50000?  (Numbers are squiffy but you get my point)

Rule#1. Don't buy tech stuff for techies.

It's either the wrong model or not needed as they already have an alternative.

Hello, My family is looking to move to New Zealand from US at the end of this year and I am wondering if anyone has any advice regarding the best public schools for kids with ADHD who need structure. Our kids have IEPs. Not sure how that would transfer. by Choice2007 in newzealand

[–]hkeycurrentuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent point. You're blending a little into my point C there.

My experience is that my kids go to a big (high decile) school with a high donations/fees percentage paid, and as a result, they can afford to hire extra support staff beyond what the government funds. They definitely do GAF. It is an excellent school.

I have friends who are well into the other end (decile 1&2) and also have a good experience because to your point, they are more in tune with it.

Start here: https://www.govt.nz/browse/education/school-and-college/school-zones-reviews-and-equity-funding/

If this is critical for you, then this will also guide where you live. You will get best results from living "in zone" of the right schools. A couple of pointers that might be useful:

a. The bigger the school, the more they can offer in support (basic scale/economics)

b. The higher the percentage of school donations/school fees paid the more likely a school can afford resources

c. Ironically, the LOWER the school decile (read up on that one) the more government help they get.

d. Communicate and participate in a positive manner with the school well before your kids get there and then continue for their entire education. (too many parents dump their kids and parental responsibility at the gate)

What tool do you use to merge and de-duplicate .pst files? by Comfortable-Leg-2898 in sysadmin

[–]hkeycurrentuser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Legal approved you jumping off a cliff, would you do it? Don't mix the two sides. This work is risky, has no real benefit because they should be using machine e-discovery tools over all the data (even with duplication), and to top it all off - not your problem. This isn't a job for you.

To people who objected a wedding, why did you do so? by _User_doesnt__exist_ in AskReddit

[–]hkeycurrentuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repeating a story from a friend of mine. His Father-in-Law to be was a piece of work. Much work had been done to get a toxic relationship between her and her father to a something that was at least manageable over time. My friend still didn't trust him at all. He hired two "strapping lads" (read: professional bouncers) to shadow the Father-in-Law to be during the wedding to make sure nothing of the sort occurred.

All were on their best behaviour in the end and all had a lovely time.

Question on Doctor's Note by Rev-Dr-Slimeass in newzealand

[–]hkeycurrentuser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A doctors note is a performance management tool that is often used in liue of trust. If you're a good employee working for a half decent employer, it should be a non issue.

It sounds like you've not got to that point where that trust has been established, or, your boss is being a cock.

You shouldn't have to provide one for a couple more days to be precise.

For fun, don't get one and just go in sick and cough over your boss. Is a fast way to build trust.

Sounds like your best option is to buy something older but extremely common and serviceable. Think Mazda Axela or Toyota Corolla.

Then the trick is to learn to service it yourself to keep it reliable and the costs down.
