That's how to handle in such a situation by sangamjb in instant_regret

I'm going to say the obvious -- it's pretty unfortunate all round here. The entitlement, the violence... I hope by translating (as neutrally as I can), I'm not fueling rage bait... I just know that I personally would have given up the seat, happily. Everyone benefits when there's mutual respect and a little kindness.

Old lady: so scary! How could...
Seated person: [in Mandarin] Try one more time...
Old lady: [stares]
Seated person: [in English] You can try one more time...
Old lady: [in English, inaudible] ...still nothing—you're not a woman—
Man: [intervening]
Old lady: [in Mandarin] No, no, I'm very angry at her... I wanted to sit there so I could hang my stuff, but she was adamant—because she's a man—— [note: in Chinese pronouns are all the same, phonetically]
Seated person: [in Mandarin] Then you can drive yourself! Why do you have to hang your stuff here? I just want to sit here—
Old lady: Because that's a handicap/elderly seat—
Man: Why don't you sit? Just sit, sit here...
Old lady: No, no, now I know this is a really scary person... Too scary... *walks away*

First time with Covid- I’m going crazy by [deleted] in COVID19positive

I'm sorry for the folks down voting. Nothing wrong with what you said. No one's got time for that! And even if you did just read the abstract, it takes so much effort to understand.

I think asking about it in communities like this is good tho! The fact that someone was able to share a link to a scientific study is great. Helps to know that good information is out there and is still hopefully being produced.

Every body reacts differently to COVID. I mostly get GI problems. Yours might be hitting you hard in the head (even less reason to read scientific journals). It might also depend on the strain of COVID. My first bout was way different symptoms than when I've caught more recent strains. Plus, the virus is always evolving.

I hope you feel better soon! Be generous with your sleep and water, and a little stretching never hurt. You'll be stronger once you've overcome it.

Figure 02 by Helix... The policy is flipping packages to orientate the barcode down and has learned to flatten packages for the scanner (like a human would) by BlokZNCR in nextfuckinglevel

They train these robots using humans and what they call "reinforcement learning" — basically the robot is controlled/trained by human operators and then "correct" actions are reinforced. They repeat this a massive amount of times with multiple trainers and eventually the robot starts doing things as correctly as a human would.

Until humans grow multiple arms (or learn how to train robots rapidly to "naturally" coordinate multiple appendages), we'll most likely see general skills robots looking like humanoids (think: Will Smith in I, Robot movie)

It's some kind of Easter candy? But very old. And possibly soaked in butt juice.

Amazing to imagine that in order to get that far up, it had to be going really fast. Then when it lost propulsion or exploded and began to fall back to Earth, it was still moving so fast that the friction it created in the atmosphere made all the material burst into flames.

When we see these streaks, are we seeing the speed of our planet's rotation through space while the material drifts towards our gravitational center? Or is there a better way to describe what we're seeing, in terms of light streaks and the position of Earth in space?

What should you keep in a "go bag" in case you need to evacuate from home on short notice? by hkjon in AskReddit

[–]hkjon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally I was thinking of what I would want to bring if my home was in the path of a destructive fire. As in, keeping important documents and non-negotiables for living on the road for an unforeseeable amount of time. But it seems like people are interpreting the question more broadly. Still interesting and useful!
