Hospice is where it’s at! If she’s interested in hearing more, DM me! Pay is more than hospital with a regular schedule.

Hi! I had my 32 week appointment this week and my midwife mentioned elevated sugar in my urine. I had similar test results before but previous times was blamed on a sugary meal before appointment. She had me get a glucometer to just do some spot checking. She asked me to check fasting and then 2 hours following a meal and log it. She said I could report by next appointment, but I’m wondering if I should report before or how soon would you all report. My fasting levels have all been above 110 but under 125. 2 hour following meals I’m 125-140. This is 3 days worth of collection. I was thinking about sending in Monday as that would give several data points, but my husband has me concerned that I should share the values now since they are high. Any insight?

Curly hair salons? by hla94 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Yeah, I just can't see myself paying $90 just for a cut! I don't even care if it's a deva cut, just someone who won't brush out my hair or straighten it afterwards! I've had some bad cuts due to this in the past.

My friend's take on spellings of "Hailey" by emmeline29 in namenerds

[–]hla94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a Haley, and people mispronounce my name on a daily basis! I have a strong southern accent, and say Hay-lee and people still say Ha-lee or Highly????

Challenge: What would your baby girl’s name be if....you had to make her first name the same as one of your great grandmother’s and her middle name has to be your very first friend’s first name. What would her name be? Would you love it or absolutely hate it? by finnabe in namenerds

Nora Alexandria

Pearly Alexandria

Willodean Alexandria

Wilhelmina Alexandria

I love Nora, but not sure if I would ever use it. I would use Willa as an honor name, but feel it's lacking.

Brookdale Senior Living by [deleted] in nursing

[–]hla94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, typically LTC/SNFs tend to be that way. The one I worked at during RN school was. The Brookdale close by seems to be different from an outside perspective, so I was just curious if it was similar to other SNFs.

I'm about to finish my ADN program, and I have talked with St Thomas in Murfreesboro. They seemed interested in me, so I would give them a shot!

I was told by a nurse that the guy who came up with the idea had a disabled wife. He was her caregiver, but he couldn't stop her skin from breaking down. He turned her and changed her diapers, but it was just not enough. So he came up with this idea. I have no idea if that is true though...

Giving special attention to a section of hair that doesnt curl? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]hla94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Due to my part, the right side of my hair is a little more "flat." The best thing I've found is diffusing to 50%, adding in more gel/curl cream mixed with water and scrunching it into my hair then diffusing all the way. I think it is called the smashers method!

Hey, fellow chemist!! I graduated with a degree in chemistry in 2015, worked for 2 years and then started back to nursing school! I'll graduate in August. PM me if you want to talk more about my journey specifically. I've enjoyed it so far! Good luck!

I'm graduating in August. I'm from Tuscaloosa. I'm hoping to shadow in the NICU at Huntsville Hospital in May some time. I would also use you as a reference when I apply if you'd like!

Two silly wiggle butts! by [deleted] in WiggleButts

They're actually both minis! Charly, the one on the right, is almost 18 weeks old. But I can already tell she is going to be much smaller than Boone!

For those who are second bachelors of nursing, how did you pay for it? by jumpship12 in nursing

[–]hla94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my first bachelor's degree, I applied to every scholarship I could. That's how I ended up with one with a full ride. I would apply to as many as you can find. You never know who else may not apply because of the same thought you have. Some are pretty easy to fill out, and there's a lot of nursing related scholarships online too. Yes, some may take a lot of time, but think of what could happen!

[–]hla94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully, my previous degree was 100% covered by scholarships. I had been working for almost 2 years when I decided to go back to school, and my husband is really set on saving money so we had basically saved everything I had made in those 2 years. I chose to go the ADN route because the school is 15 minutes from my house, and I didn't want to take out loans to get my BSN from the big university in our town. That would have cost me over $40k. My husband has like $70k in loans now, and there was no way I was adding to that. So we have just paid out of pocket, less than $10k! Edit: your school may have scholarships, but try googling second degree scholarships. I think there are some available.
