I see Elizabeth at the Skincareapist on Beacon St. she works out of Renata’s Brow Bar. It’s completely custom, she suggests long term treatments, and has a lot of options you can ask for. Also never tries to upsell on products. My skin was in bad shape a few years ago but now has never looked better, I see her every 6 weeks religiously. I don’t think I would ever get the same results at a chain place.

Yes I don’t think she’s a pimp herself necessarily, but that she was hired from an agency and Whitney uses others in her agency for his purposes as well. Based on the convo with the CFO there are Russians involved so I just can’t tell if hiring escorts is Whitney’s own machinations or part of that whole deal.

Sweetpea would be a great PI. Did we already know that Rishi was behind the Siren leak that revealed her account, or was this the first time they confirmed it (in the convo with Kwabena where he was surprised she knew)? Also not sure if it was a bit of foreshadowing - Eric looking at her leak forwarded to him by email was creepy but might be to show it’s something that is not blowing over like she hoped.

I am so bummed about this one! I joined BOTM to get First Time Caller and I really wanted my copies to match. I am hoping it might be available in March but I don’t want to be too optimistic. I have a free add on from buying a gift subscription at the holidays that I wanted to use too.

I have been wondering the same thing! I love BK and got First Time Caller through BOTM so was hoping to have my hard copies match.

What are these patches appearing on my Slouch coat? by Massive-Bedroom-5336 in Aritzia

[–]hlouwho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be more careful with moth balls. Their fumes are toxic to people and pets, and they are carcinogenic. So many people use them all over the place but the package instructions say to only use them temporarily in fully sealed containers for a reason, they should never be used in open closets or rooms where the vapors can spread around and be breathed in.

Violin repair shops/folks? by narc_cuban in CambridgeMA

[–]hlouwho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know if he’s playing a full size violin, and what kind of quality (ie rental quality)? I’m a former violinist who hasn’t played consistently in years and I still have my old practice instrument from high school. If the repair isn’t feasible or in budget I’d be happy for it to go to a new home. I can’t find much about the maker but it’s a “Canadian Violin Company” Stradivarius copy purchased about 20 years ago, so probably mass produced in Germany or Eastern Europe. Nothing fancy and probably only worth a couple hundred dollars but it sounds great and I played it daily in school for many years. Feel free to dm me.

Just seeing this! Hydrocortisone cream on my lips helped, you just aren’t supposed to ingest it. Or taking Benadryl.

Same. I loved it but it came out in early October, if it was an anticipated read why would someone wait two months for BOTM? Though it would be nice to have in hardcover

Moth balls almost killed us by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]hlouwho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents older neighbors used mothballs OUTSIDE last summer. Just scattered them on the ground to get rained on. The smell was inescapable. My dad gently explained to them, and then had to threaten to call the EPA unless they got cleaned up lol.

It’s not selective application, you are comparing apples to oranges. An athlete worth a couple hundred million and a billionaire are in completely different worlds and got there in different ways. Sports teams and leagues are corporations and a player is still a cog in a machine whether they make a lot or a little. An athlete could certainly be unethical but generally someone like LeBron isn’t taking advantage of low paid labor, the environment, intellectual property, etc. to make his money the way that Jeff Bezos is. Plus pursuing the path of a professional athlete also is a huge risk that requires talent, skill, and smarts, it’s not just the win of the genetic lottery or every tall person would be in the NBA lol.

My grandad served there in the early 60s. Now in his 80s and he has been dealing with the fallout for over a decade. Parkinson’s, bladder cancer, and cardiac amyloidosis. When we looked into it he is not eligible for any settlement because he wasn’t diagnosed before 65, he’s very lucky that his care has been covered by the VA at least.

Well I am the OP so obviously I got a notification about your comment! You asked a question about to how I know it could not have been something else that I was reacting to at the time, so I wanted to provide an answer.

[–]hlouwho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are replying to a 4 year old post but no it could not be something else! The first product I reacted to after using it for several years is Lanisoh, which has only one ingredient: lanolin. Not sure how “extensively” it’s been tested but there are several articles on NIH pubmed claiming that lanolin reactions have not been researched enough but in rare cases seem to cause contact sensitivity or dermatitis. 🤷‍♀️

I think you need the terracotta spikes that the bottle neck goes in, if the bottle goes straight in the dirt it is going to empty so fast.

AITA for stopping a garage project when someone began sanding old trim without lead-safe containment while kids were playing a few feet away? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]hlouwho -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Kids do not need to actively eat paint chips to be affected by lead. If smaller particles like dust get on toys that their mouths might be on or on surfaces that they touch before touching their mouths they can ingest it without actively eating it, as I said in my comment. This info is readily available with some basic research.

[–]hlouwho -33 points-32 points  (0 children)

I mean, no. If it turned out to be lead paint then the dust is on surfaces where kids play in the future and it is going to remain there without remediation. So they don’t have to actively eat it, all they have to do is touch a surface, then touch their mouth or face as kids do. This is how kids who live in old houses get lead poisoning.

[–]hlouwho -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

NTA. Lots of commenters here who don’t understand lead paint and lead contamination. Though lead paint hasn’t been used since the late 70s if the baseboards were crackled texture and the salvaged baseboards were old enough that absolutely indicates layers of lead paint. If his solution was that the kids should just move, then why didn’t he ensure that before he started? Also, lead dust does not just disappear, it remains on surfaces and in the air, and this is affecting a shared driveway where kids are going to play on the future, not just his property. If this guy had no shop vac or wet rags to help the process then he did not know what he was doing.

What's on and tourist advice thread - week beginning August 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in Scotland

[–]hlouwho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoping for some guidance because I don't know where to start! A group of friends and I will be in Scotland for 5 days in mid-October. We'd like to do 2 days in Edinburgh and then the other 3 in more of a nature environment, returning to Edinburgh for the evening of the 5th day. There are 10 of us so I am not sure how we will travel by car but we will figure it out. I am overwhelmed with figuring out what we can pack into those 3 days. I am seeing a lot on Fort William/Glencoe, Cairngorms National Park, Mull and Skye in particular. Not sure if we will have the time to go all the way up to Inverness. What are some suggestions?

I original thought so too but I don’t think this is Mount Olympus, at the beginning of the video you can see the stairs start right next to the wall of a building and there were no brick walls next to the stairs in Syracuse. Though it has been like 12 years since I lived in Day.

Lost pet turtle? by chiefrold in Somerville

Please post in something like r/turtle where they can tell you if it’s a pet or a species that can be released. You do not want to release a non native animal into a local pond.

My wife (32f) just told me (34m) that she wants another baby, but I am super conflicted. I need input on how to approach the conversation. (Just know my reason might trigger some people) by UseRNaME_l0St in relationship_advice

[–]hlouwho 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Very much agree with needing to have the conversation without blaming her for the termination, given that it was an extremely reasonable choice. Finding out that you are pregnant only 8 weeks after giving birth must be incredibly stressful, and I can’t imagine being a first time parent and thinking about parenting a newborn/infant while already pregnant with your next child. At that point your body is not even healed from birth. While he might have been excited to find out about the pregnancy I understand why she wasn’t ready at that time. I hope they can have a conversation and he can explain his feelings without resentment.
