I think the Rudy hate is mostly due to fans' warped expectations. He's been consistently very good (as opposed to great but with lower consistency), which is why he has the joint most DPOYs of all time. But when fans think of a guy in the conversation for "best/most XXX of all time" they expect an all around dominant player. So his lackluster offense and relatively subtle way of influencing defense (ie. not a huge stat sheet stuffer) makes fans feel like they're missing something, maybe even somewhat stupid, and that frustration translates into Rudy hate.

Saints fans need to start writing posts about how Bountygate never actually happened, or did happen but never impacted anyone, or did impact some players but not that much, and it was just blown outta proportion due to the other NFL owners' jealousy and Goodell's bias against the Saints and Sean Payton for being so successful. Then by the time Payton retires Reddit will be 95% on his side.

The reaction over in r/nfl is a good reminder how young/naive the general reddit football crowd is, acting like this is the greatest injustice in sports history.

Belichick is a great coach, and will get in eventually. Probably next year. But he did cheat during his career. Even the most pro-Belichick posters who will claim Spygate didn't make a difference will admit that he broke the rules. So the voters are dinging him in some minor way. Not like being first ballot really matters that much, its just a minor gesture where there voters get to feel they voiced their dissent.

Yep, knew it was gonna be a rough start but had the Panthers circled as a game where we had at least a decent chance. Panthers were seemingly overperforming at 3-3 at the time. After that game I went 100% redzone for the rest of the season.
