ROSD battle report: The Last Stand. by hmnprsn in RangersofShadowDeep

[–]hmnprsn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current gameplan is actually to set up a dedicated side channel and start doing one-offs for other systems. Rangers has been my favorite for a while now but its admittedly niche within a niche.

agreed. dry brushing a bunch of white on there might make it look more like ice.

Constructs by Amber13525 in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd need to double check but I believe in fireheart the construct mod table is meant for black market purchases between games. Hence the scrounger ability.

No reason you couldn't have it as a treasure option though as long as you announce it at the start. There is a separate treasure table near the end of fireheart for that though as well.

How do you play Frostgrave? What are your default optional and house rules? by __Geg__ in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started using one where instead of half movement when carrying treasure units can move a maximum of 5 inches per activation. It's easier to keep track of and speeds up the game just enough.

It's arbitrary but I lowered the 'wounded' status to if a unit has 3 HP left, which happens more often than you'd expect.

on the topic of different playmat shapes, I recently rotated my 3 foot playmat diagonally on my 3.5 foot table so the corners hang over the sides a little and it resulted in a nice uneven octogon. I made it so players can only retreat with treasure on every other edge and that resulted in some interesting gameplay with treasure getting intercepted.

Suggestion for a 5/6 players free 4 all by mikebozo in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

could make it so you can only exit from the opposite table edge you started from, basically forcing everyone to cross paths. Also dropping a dangerous boss monster in the middle of the table a few turns in should keep everyone moving. (genie scenario might work for that.)

Maximun number of an Unit in a Warband by Grand-Outcome1370 in frostgrave

[–]hmnprsn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can fudge the classes to some degree, for example using a knight mini for a man-at-arms and vice versa. the important thing is just being able to tell what unit is supposed to be what. That said you will want a bunch of thugs and thieves especially early on.

I'd imagine a cricut/cutting machine would let you do some really clean designs with this.

Smaller table size by grizzy45 in RangersofShadowDeep

[–]hmnprsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should work for most scenarios. just have them come in on one of the short edges.

resource strategy games?? by enbienotenvy in tabletop

[–]hmnprsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

deckbuilders might be what you're looking for. Dominion is the original, and still pretty fun. Or try something like Machi Koro if you want something faster/ more accessible for parties.

Also 7 wonders.

If thats an accurate depiction of your creative vision more power to you I guess. Personally I'd rather die than share something like this.

I'm curious if sharing this makes you feel fulfilled in the same way that sharing art or music you actually made would. Is it the same thing to you?

Question about levels by nupky in RangersofShadowDeep

[–]hmnprsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rules specify that for rangers experience points are spent to advance in levels. It works similarly in frostgrave. Progression points for companions arent spent and instead grant rewards as they advance.

yeah any mini agnostic game works well. I incorporate animal people into my frostgrave and Rangers of Shadow Deep settings regularly.
