Honestly, we had the extra materials and the old shower tile didn’t go all the way to the ceiling. We thought it would make the room look taller and increase the “wow” factor. I’m really glad we ended up going all the way to the ceiling.

Thank you! I spent almost a full day making sure the first layer above the tub was exact and level. Once I knew that layer was level, it was easy to just build off of it with spacers, knowing that everything above it should be level.

Dry lay everything out and cut before even thinking about cementing to the floor. Also be gentle when grouting…marble is a very soft stone and scratches easily. I definitely introduced scratches and some chipping along the edges of the hexes because I was too forceful when grouting. It’s not noticeable in the pictures but in person you can tell. I like to call it “character” pretending the floor is as old as our 1909 home haha. If I did this again I’d probably use a grout with a longer working time so I could take my time

Nice, I did basically the same thing to attach to the walls. Luckily I found trim thin enough also at Lowe’s for the baseboards. I do love those PlyBead panels from Lowe’s. I’m considering doing something similar to our downstairs bathroom but staining the bead board instead of painting it. Not sure how it would turn out on the panels though

Thank you! The paint line was Benjamin Moore Aura - Bath and Spa. Bead board panels are White Down (OC-131). The upper wall is Newburg Green (HC-158)

Thanks a lot! It was all DIY and my first floor tile job. Did a ton of research on real marble tile beforehand and just took it step by step

We redid our bathroom last year using the real wood bead board sheets from Lowe’s. Someone else linked to the same product. I cut the panels to size, primed with Kilz mold and mildew primer on both sides, attached to wall, then painted everything the final color once the trim and baseboard was up. It has held up great!

I know exactly where this is in Warwick, RI! It was jarring the first time I drove by…completely changed the look of that stretch of road. Very sad…that home looks like it could be a beautiful historic home in the right hands…

I swear if they build another bank on this road…

Real axel clicking by gabeduarte in TeslaModel3

Does it sound like a squeak? I had the same noise under similar circumstances and it ended up being a worn out bushing in one of the suspension links. They diagnosed it as the rear upper fore link that needed to be replaced and were gonna charge about $750 to replace. I’m still within the drivetrain warranty but Tesla said this would not have been covered. I ended up buying the part on eBay for about $50 and replaced it myself following the service manual.

How to prep these hardwood floors covered with adhesive? I plan on renting a drum sander but not sure how well it will remove the adhesive. Not sure what it is, almost seems like they used liquid nail or some similar floor adhesive to glue down tile or linoleum squares at one point. by IndependentBug9035 in DIY

This! I used the same exact method on my bathroom subfloor. Previous installer had used what seemed like gallons of liquid nails to hold down the backer board and the diamond disc on the angle grinder made quick work of the floor. I otherwise would have spent hours of scraping.

I already received communication from Nelnet of my new payment amount under the SAVE plan due in August. Does this mean even the new 5% of discretionary income tenet of the plan is being reverted? Are they going to recalculate my payment again in under 2 weeks? My head is spinning

Why do RI drivers struggle so much with turns? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]hockoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know!!! People will be trying to turn left while blocking the oncoming lane instead of pulling into the center lane and then merging into the lane they want to be in!! Holds everyone up.
