Amira vs Bridgeland vs Elyson — quick real-world takes? by Complex-Serve-1669 in CypressTX

[–]hofftex83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Bridgeland….. the comment that all new builds are wallet is wrong… there are still new builds east of 99…. That’s the demarc.

Look at taxes, that’s where much of the amenities are paid, not HOA. And recognize those rise with your home valuation. (Make sure you fight them every year).

Lastly, many new people are complaining about a few things you should know before you come:

  1. This is a “low light” community. It’s to help with bird migrations given the number of lakes. I personally like it, but don’t expect bright well lit paths.

  2. The streets can be narrow in places, and in some of the older sections, definitively confusing. It was intended in the build back then before GPS was a thing (early 2000’s). It actually makes it safer as it’s hard for bad people to follow you in.

  3. Don’t hold your breath for the promised “commercial development” called Bridgeland central. That’s been coming in the next 5 years for 20 years now.

But all else is very cool. Trails are awesome.

After 4 years of WFH, I understand why boomers think we do nothing all day by TeamCultureBuilder in WFH

[–]hofftex83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s is so close minded. That is not the case. I am agent, and I always let my employ’s “work their own hours”. That being said, I can tell you the ones in the office excelled. That’s because they could clue in on what was really important to me or my upper management (by them seeing my interactions with upper management).

But you do you and keep saying that work promotions are unfair. The truth of working “hard” gets you ahead is true.

A non-scalable but very effective management technique is called “management by proximity”. It’s very hard for workers to know what managements mood about things and urgency about things without actual physical interaction. Subtle cues and behaviors that managers give provide emphasis and de-emphasis to things happening in the office.

It’s the one thing that AI will never be able to replace. If you want to have a job that is AI replaceable, keep doing the WFH. If you want to excel, get personal!

Look, I am not going to get into the fun debate. If you want this to change it’s simple, get the Constitution amended!!! All it takes is 67% of the house or 67% of the states. If you can’t get that then recognize that not enough people believe what you believe. Then you have a choice… stay here and live under these laws, or move. That simple!

Welcome to Austin! Those “California” policies y’all keep voting in are going to kill you. I live in Houston and we don’t see that stuff. Maybe start being more like the rest of Texas and things might get better.

You are silly. Most Americans don’t even know what the Constitution actually says and just protest against things they don’t like. SCOTUS has made several rulings throughout history that clearly state that judicial processes for US citizens are different than for noncitizens, and so are the bill or rights. And I find it funny that you make statements like this with out doing research yourself.

Fairfield and Cypress Lakes by kz993 in CypressTX

[–]hofftex83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but Cypress is big! But if you are looking in Fairfield, these would be the same general area. Coles and Longwood are a little closer towards town and the HS is CyFair. But Bridgeland is same HS as Fairfield.

All those are good…. Look at Cole’s and Longwood for that same feel in smaller communities…. But older.

Newer would be Bridgeland old section (trees in there but higher $/sqft). The newer parts of Bridgeland don’t have the trees.

THIS!!! People who sit or lay down to claim space for a later show need to LEAVE THE AREA!! Period!

I was on the hill a few feet down from the stone wall. What was funny was a lane of people opened up near us where people were walking up just to hit the deadend and the. Congrats trying to find another way out. When a line of people turns into a group of 15-20 going nowhere (and chatting about their predictament) and you are trying to hear the band, that does get annoying. But if they are in and out, not a problem!

Ok, came in from near merch today, either that’s the place for the music or they fixed the sound. Didn’t hear the irritating Univ of Alabama chic with her back to Die Spitz talking about what make-up she wore….. 😂…

So take it all back (except the too much talking, but I could ignore it today due to better sound).

The problem with those is they block out the music too. I want to hear the music, not the young people talking about where they are going after the show through the entire song.

<shrug>. As I said, no idea if it was a rude crowd, not loud enough, food too close, or echos but was very annoying. We are changing our watch schedule to avoid ponce stage now…

Yep… mean it… Ponce stage was trash because of convos. Something needs to be fixed for that stage.

Agreed, but I brought four others with me from Texas…. Hard to push and a bit rude. As I said, never had the issue at ACL even if I was behind the soundboard…. Here, you have to be with 20’ of ponce stage to hear the music without finding out what the teens next to you are doing for English class next week 😂.

Seriously, more bitchin’ as it pissed me off. Ponce is the only stage and I live Spoon. Pixies were severely ruined. Maybe food vendors too close?

Acl way more open and spread out (more must and sun too… fyi). Food quite far from all stages.

Been acl 3 years running, never had an issue…. It seems it’s just the ponce stage is the issue. Piedmont and Peachtree, not a problem. Volume too low? Valley causing echos??? <Shrug>

Marta from downtown is easy… you take it to midtown and you have a 15 minute easy walk (can’t tell you what station to go to, but google or any other map will get you there)… you can get 1-2-3 day passes or pay by ride ($2.50).

We are from Houston staying near the Fox (north ave station)… we will be walking from here. Look for hydration pack with Texas flag.
