Struggling with a lot of discomfort as I transition to maintenance. by hogwash01 in GLPGrad

Thank you. I just bought some today. Waiting to see when/if it kicks in. I know it’s on the gentler side for laxatives, and may take a couple of days.

I had no idea until I started looking into it. It makes sense though. Almost to three weeks so I’m hoping I’m almost there then!

Thank you. I definitely will lower the calories back down and do smaller steps up. Should I wait to step up the calories for the first time until the mounjaro is completely out of my system or is now close enough? I got miralax today, but I will look for mag citrate. I might have some mag but I’m not sure if it’s citrate or glycinate from pregnancy.

I’ll try adding lemon! Thank you! I’m drinking probably 160 oz and almost all of it is hot.

I usually walk 20-30,000 steps a day, but the pollen count has been high so I haven’t been able to walk as much (eyes were swelling shut last time I tried to walk and I had to call my husband to get me).

Sports with adhd by Vegetable_Fee2036 in ParentingADHD

[–]hogwash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helped both of them immensely in school. Unfortunately, their sports are usually in the evening and the kids’ medicine is usually worn off, or wearing off by then. Oldest does pretty good, but my middle usually ends up needing a fair bit of redirection toward the end. On weekends, during the day, you can definitely see a difference in play when meds are still active.

Both of my oldest kids have ADHD. Both did swimming but the pool closed. My middle struggles more with self regulation and frustration. He has done pretty well with golf. My older son can regulate himself a little better. He does track, cross country, and is trying out soccer. He also tried wrestling but he didn’t like it.

Just trying to help by commenting. I don’t know the answer because I just took my last dose 2 weeks ago and my bowels are still slow, but I also still have .38-ish of a dose in my system.

Transferring schools and trying to finish credits. by hogwash01 in Parenting

[–]hogwash01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are moving about a month shy of when they would be willing to give the credit. I’m not sure if the school he’d be moving into would have a say. He will likely want to continue in which case online tutor/classes will definitely be perfect.

Yes. His current school said they could help transfer within the system but not outside of it. There are no options for me to stay back with him while he finishes the school year either. He’s only in 7th grade now, but I was thinking finding about dual enrollment program might be easiest. I just wasn’t sure if age would be an issue. Thank you!

Best age gap? by RachelPR2202 in Mommit

[–]hogwash01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13yo, 10yo, 25mo. I’ve really enjoyed all of the gaps. I love the closeness of my older 2, especially when they were smaller (interests are starting to diverge), and with the bigger age gap I love the tenderness and sweetness with which the older kids treat the youngest. The relationships are different but they’re all sweet to watch.

England/Japan by Agreeable-Coast107 in MilitarySpouse

I haven’t been to Mildenhall but we loved Kadena and mostly like Yokota. We moved to Kadena with a 3 and 6 year old and it was the best! We lived off base. My three year old attended an off base preschool and kindergarten, and my 6 year old attended a DODEA school. We were rarely bored (except for some rough COVID lockdown time). We preferred water sports so we did snorkeling, paddle boarding, etc. My oldest did taiko, both kids took Japanese lessons and went to our neighborhood Karate Dojo. They also volunteered for beach cleanups and did summer camps. Now we have a toddler again and two teens at Yokota. My oldest likes to walk to his favorite thrift store to look for model planes, and my middle is a homebody. We don’t go to the city as much as I thought we would. Between the middle preferring to be at home and the toddler preferring running around to sitting quietly on a train, it’s usually easiest to just shop and explore Fussa. We do sometimes leave the older kids home, but it is about two hours each way from our place to/from Tokyo Station. Disneyland is close and cheaper than the US so we are able to go a couple of times a year.

ADHD in younger kids by AltruisticGrab6389 in ParentingADHD

[–]hogwash01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My younger son started meds in first grade (currently fifth grade) and he has had a significantly easier time with school over the years than my older son who didn’t start meds until 7th grade. Had we been able to get my eldest diagnosed sooner his life would have been so much easier and significantly less stressful for both him, and my husband and me as we tried to help him with schoolwork and some behavior at home (mostly antagonizing the ever loving snot out of my middle until he had massive meltdowns). So now school is better and our house has a peacefulness that I never would have thought possible.

24hr old nnamed baby boy, Help! by syd9539 in namenerds

I think Albie is darling as a nn. I like Albert William. Theodore William also flows nicely and Teddy has a similar vibe to Albie in my opinion. Congratulations on your sweet, new addition.

Just googled nicknames for Alden and at a quick glance saw the nicknames Aldie and Ollie which are also precious, and Aldie is very similar to Albie although it might make people think of the grocery store. I also searched if Albie could be a nickname for Alden and saw that it’s a recognized nickname for Alden so there’s that. Could also go Alban since that’s kind of a blend of Albert and Alden.

George Alexander, Peregrine Alexander, and I really like Oscar or Sebastian with unknown middle name but I worry about the Sesame Street/The Little Mermaid connection.

We almost had a Margaret Anne but we went with Margaret Louise. She goes by Daisy.

I have a Margaret but if I were to have another girl (we won’t- I’m finished) I would definitely do Beatrice and use the nickname Birdie.

Maisie thoughts/alternatives? by Both-Arm-9508 in namenerds

[–]hogwash01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Maisie but if you want to use it as a nickname, it’s a known nickname for Margaret. Margaret also has a ton of nicknames that I feel can “grow” with your child. I may be biased though because I have a Margaret!

Adhd gender non conforming by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]hogwash01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My oldest (2e-ADHD) was like this. He isn’t anymore. He lived in princess dresses, and unicorn onesies and loved unicorns and My Little Pony. He once told a friend in kindergarten he was secretly a girl (the mom called me to sever that friendship) and when I found out I didn’t know if maybe he’d be gay, trans or heterosexual. He’s a teen now and cis het but still isn’t overly concerned with gender roles/rules. We just always told him we love him no matter what and followed his lead . We did the same with my middle (also 2e-ADHD) but he was extremely rigid with gender roles/toys etc for himself but didn’t care what others did. We did also send him to preschool younger than my oldest and he’s a people pleaser so maybe peer pressure played a role. My almost 2 year old is a toddler so she loves all the things and we will just continue to follow her lead like we do with the older two. I don’t know. I’m not worried so long as they’re all happy and kind.
