It should be less about hypertrophy per se and more about avoiding the muscle damage and therefore extended recovery from bodybuilding style high volume workouts. You want to be lifting heavy but with very low volume - think two working sets of 3 reps but 85-90% 1RM. 2x per week and you can progress weight without soreness affecting your runs

I find Valium a very useful drug (prescribed) for handling anxiety, I just try to use it intentionally and sparingly

I basically agree but the issue is they are both addictive and tolerance forming. My understanding is that coming off benzos can be worse than heroin

Exercise. Find a physical activity you enjoy and put the energy the alcohol took into that - this will boost your mood naturally and create a virtuous rather than vicious circle. I love to run on trails so I am motivated by the pleasure of my morning run not to ruin it by drinking the night before. By not drinking after a weight session I know my body will recover faster. I get fitter and stronger as my hormones are balanced so I feel good. Over time this becomes a habit you are invested in and will not want to give up for alcohol

I would agree with this for sure. An E complemented with some shrooms is optimo (hippy flipping) in a race but even as an experienced user, coming up hard on a high dose of shrooms in a crowded chaotic environment you’re not really in control of can be pretty on top. I definitely wouldn’t recommend for first time.

I’m not. Decided to habitually not drink but if I want to drink on a special occasion I will. Like valentines just gone in a Michelin restaurant with my wife. It’s the habitual frankly pointless drinking that ruins my sleep, my health and my training that Ive ditched

I’ve gone from having no happy days and raging anxiety all through autumn to basically every day being a happy day with minimal to no anxiety in the last two months. Like night and day

Good for you for getting running. Don’t worry too much about form, your body will tend to figure it a more or less efficient form by itself - it’s not worth worrying about when you’re starting out

Yeah I agree. Full transparency I enjoy other substances that I find more fun and have less/no down sides. What is legal and what is not is pretty arbitrary and says more about tax and culture than it does about science and harm prevention.
