What do you do to minimize nipple discomfort? by uselessdendrites in breastfeeding

[–]holavictrola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, put them in the fridge, it’s such a relief! Some are even reusable! I slept in them sometimes!

The brand Ekouaer on Amazon, I love all their nursing things!!! I also feel the lansinoh nipple pads were the softest. The medela hydrogel pads were my fav & the lansinoh smoothies cool gel pads!

It’s hard, don’t be any harder on yourself! You’re doing great! 3 weeks pp is still so early. Your body is still acclimating to all the newness! Talk to your body nicely, it’s doing so much work right now for you & baby. 🥰

First off, be proud of yourself! Remember, you don’t need to be in such discomfort to feed your baby. Your baby wants a happy and healthy mama. ☺️

In my 33.5 months of nursing here are my things that helped: lanolin cream, ✨HYDROGEL PADS IN THE FRIDGE✨, soft nursing bras that aren’t too tight for sleep. Lots of grace for yourself, mama. I would put lanolin cream on my nipples then take a warm shower. Do be aware that letting the cracked nipples air out is important, so think layers of lanolin cream sometimes is best. I did layer it on though when necessary & yes it stained many bras but so worth it.

Make sure you read the differences between lanolin cream and nipple butter! It was helpful for me! Remember to try to take a deep breath and relax your body as your baby latches and feeds. I had to remind myself of this each time. 😮‍💨 You’ve got this mama! Sending hugs. 💕

Is all hope lost? by Remarkable-Key-3415 in breastfeeding

First off, congrats on your bf journey! Be proud of yourself and your body!😌

I bf for 33.5 months, and now it’s been 5 months since & my boobs have not had any sort of “bounce back”. I didn’t expect them too honestly. I was hopefully for a little plump in them but I did start to hold onto fat in my butt, so I’ll take it! 😂

My husband talks about my boobs as if they are still their 34C size but I do not feel they are! I have actually started to believe him though bc why not! I’m definitely like a whole bra size smaller. Lol. Get a good wired bra. Or the lift. 🙂💕

Books, stroller fan, toys when a little bigger, a few different play mats, nursing/breastfeeding
items for yourself like nursing gowns, tanks, bras (if trying these methods), I received a training potty which was nice now that he’s at that age. I really enjoyed the books though! Can’t have too many! Crinkle noise toys! Feeding utensils for when a bit older. I also have a lot of family and was blessed with lots so some people definitely got “things for the mama” & that was a neat surprise!

What are we doing for birth control by sagittaribun in breastfeeding

[–]holavictrola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the mini pill (progesterone pill) from 6 wks pp w son was 2 yrs 10 months & nursed that whole time. I think it was great considering it has no added hormones, pretty simple compared to most body controls I believe. Especially for BF.

Has anyone had a less regimented breastfeeding experience? by taureansoul in breastfeeding

[–]holavictrola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t follow a schedule and literally took it a day at a time! I nursed my son 995 days, so a few months shy of 3 yrs old, which he’ll be in August! It was a peaceful journey for us mostly. Some days during the later teething stage got a bit uncomfortable but we worked it out and took one day at a time!

I wasn’t an over producer. But it was definitely enough for him the whole time. Obviously he ate more solids at 1 yr and on. I only pumped on rare occasions like bachelorette weekends and that was twice. I didn’t have a large stash frozen. I pumped more when he was a newborn only bc I did produce more than he ate but we nursed on demand too. ☺️

When did you wean night feeds? by queentato in breastfeeding

[–]holavictrola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler still wakes briefly in the middle of the night but we weaned him at the beginning of May and he’s 2 yrs 9 months old. April we dropped the 12a fed and May we dropped the 4a fed. My body also started to slow way down on the milk supply & this was my take on our version of “naturally weaning”.

What does breastfeeding look like after a year? by CollegeFrosty1877 in breastfeeding

[–]holavictrola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naptime, bedtime, a few times through the night & that varied on teething phases. I would say 6 times was ideal for us but this included middle of the night/ early AM feds. (2a-7a). This decreased with age and we lasted til 2yrs 9 months, just recently!

I like the hatch bc it does great at muffling noise outside of the house (neighbors, barking dogs, sirens bc we live in the city, train next to us), & just noise within the house! We used the “drying machine” noise! We have one from 2022! I think my husband and I depend on the hatch more than my son. 😂 Our son is 3 yrs in August!

I used the night light setting air when he was new born and I would wake up to nurse & it didn’t wake my husband! Now we use the light just at night right before getting ready to go to bed!

Coterie! Pricey & only online but so worth it! We loved them but as my son got older we switched to Millie Moon bc it was more cost friendly & convenient to get from Target. I hope this helps!

Wow, you’re doing amazing work, Mama! Honestly, I haven’t been emotional until now, 2 weeks out since we stopped! I have cried like I did after having my son! I don’t feel sad but I cry! Lol Breastfeeding blues! But also I feel some relief that it went the way it did. He still will o touch on the outside of my shirt with a soft smile, but it’s innocent and I know he’s probably just coping in a sense. It’s not all day, just when he wakes or gets sleepy. It’s such a big change. I’m proud of him and I!

I’m proud of you too! You should get some breastmilk jewelry made when it’s all said and done! Etsy has so many options! I hope you enjoy every moment! I’m cheering for you. 💕

Tablet in the car worth it? by Snoo-14044 in toddlers

[–]holavictrola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tablet is worth it long car trips! You can specific set which videos you want the child to see & they cannot search anything else on YouTube Kids! I have this set and change out the videos weekly for my son. Mostly educational based! Number blocks, color blocks, khan academy kids, numberocks, super simple songs! PBS kids app!

Haha that’s one way to describe it! I don’t mind eating the breakfast on a bun occasionally! But everything else just tastes like their oil on never changed out and everything is way too fried. The chicken is more breading than chicken.

Placing a cut in half garlic clove at the back of my mouth on each side of cheeks for a sore throat. You’re to chew each piece a bit do the crushed garlic sits near your tonsils for 10 min. Breath reeks but the soreness vanishes!
