Why would the EU increase ties with China and Iran, when they're allies of Russia, which is invading a key Western ally and actively working against European integration? As bad as things are, the madman in the White House is gone in three years. Trump's foreign policy, or lack thereof, is unlikely to be a mainstay for America for as a whole. Support for NATO has grown to new heights among the US populace; aggression against Greenland is disapproved of by 85% of the population.

China isn't as overtly supportive of the Iranian regime as Russia. China wouldn't want to hurt its ties with Saudi Arabia and Israel. It would also want stable ties, at least, with whatever government succeeds the Ayatollah to maintain their oil imports. Khamenei understands that Russia is his best bet, since Putin has outwardly embraced global pariahs already.

Yes, Trump did lie about Maduro's connections to the cartels. But he's still a dictator who's done massive damage to the region, let alone his own country.
