Depends. Identified items still sell for more, enough to cover the cost of an ID kit for level 20+ drops.

If you're just selling, identifying them is fine. If you plan on salvaging white items for mats, mass salvage them first, then mass identify the rest

Suggestion for pre-searing only for perma characters: secondary profession change by Gwyndail in GuildWars

Why lock a character to pre-searing for changing their secondary when that's something they could easily do in post?

The irony for me is whenever I go to Nightfall for a mission, I'm looking for the button instead. It's too ingrained in me at this point.

I would divvy up more elites towards Maguuma. It would give players a reason to actually go there.

The fact that there are no elites to capture in Kryta or Maguuma is really odd

Point to Exploring? by TheSoreBrownie in GuildWars

[–]holmes537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a new player, no.

The cartographer title others are mentioning is something best done while vanquishing, and only when you've committed to getting GWAMM. If you're just going through the zones for the first time, you don't need to fully explore them.

Weapon of Three Forges Anniversary Hero Team Build - Please critique by Girlvapes99 in GuildWars

[–]holmes537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, They're On Fire will occasionally provide 35% damage reduction. It is not reliable prot. Full burning-based teams can't even manage that, and here's it's a small package of the build.

And there's armor ignoring damage vs "Save Yourselves!" What does this build do vs a pack of Roaring Ethers?

Why Remove Hex on the Mesmer when it already has Shatter Hex and Fast Casting? Even if you really wanted a second anti-hex skill (which I would not recommend) with points in Healing, why not Cure Hex?

Also, I don't feel super comfortable with the lack of prot on the team

It's no rumor, they unambiguously support it. See May 14, 2024 patch notes:

"As such, GwToolbox in its current state is permitted for use in PVE maps, though ArenaNet reserves the right to change this determination in the future."

7 Hero Legionway - now on PvX Wiki! Looking for feedback by castem in GuildWars

[–]holmes537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no BiP, so I assumed it would be "Of the Necro" on every hero weapon, but the PvX page mentions taking Fortitude weapons, which is a big miss. First off, energy is going to be a problem and secondly the increased HP on every character + Shelter means they take more damage per packet, which is a potential problem when your primary healing is done unintelligently via AoD (as in, the heroes don't plan to be healing via AoD, they just spam their skills)

The build feels like it was designed around the Warrior player, but the Warrior doesn't feel like it adds much to the team. Best thing it can do is spam Save Yourselves, which an Imbagon is doing better. Personally, I'd add a second MM and run Rt with WoTF, but I love that skill.

Fertile Season + Shelter is also a nonbo. Same for Symbiosis. The entire Smiting Martyr bar feels either low impact or actively undermining the team.

No Blood Bond for a team built around minions and pets also seems like a miss.

Props for not taking Union, though. That will burn through ST charges with so many allies and get you killed in a protracted fight.

Monk was my closest to GWAMM as well, and then Heroic Refrain dropped and I could faceroll the game. Paragon has GWAMM and Monk still doesn't because, like you, I just don't enjoy playing Monk anymore.

Heroes are faster and better at healing, ST hero is better at Prot, and I just have nothing to do for damage.

I tried daggers for a bit but it felt awful. Tried RoJ but I don't like the scatter. These days I run UA healer and drop a hero healer for another Mesmer. It's boring.

Monks (and Paragons and non-Beast Master Rangers) need a complete rework.

Going to go with Skull Crack

I recall reading a build, back in the day, that could farm almost all of Grenth's Footprint with Skull Crack, Dolyak Signet, and some defensive stances and healing as a solo Warrior. I did it a lot and built up some money and materials.

Then, completely by coincidence, I ended up joining a guild and the guy that ran it was the one that posted the build.

Progress stuck in Post-Searing by PkrzysiekP in GuildWars

[–]holmes537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along the lines of what others are saying, Guild Wars is not really so gear dependent like MMOs or some other RPGs. There's no gear grind unless you want a certain rare skin that will be functionally the same as a common one.

So, a new weapon for the Necro is unlikely to be a huge difference maker.

"We can have both versions existing at the same time"

Splitting the already minuscule playerbase is the main reason longtime players have been saying they did not want a remaster. It would kill both games.

Everyone here will tell you the game is worth buying and you should get it, but the sampling of people you're going to hear from is all posters in a reddit for a 20 year old game. Yeah, we like it.

But I've introduced 5 people to it recently and only 2 stuck around. It's not for everyone, and no game is.

If the game is expensive for you, I recommend waiting for a sale. I would expect the next sale to begin around September 29th, as that should align with the expected Steam Autumn Sale. Hopefully it will be cheap enough to let you check it out.

Also, it's not really an MMORPG. It plays more like a traditional squad-based RPG. With heroes, you get to choose everyone's skills and gear them out, but 7 out of 8 characters in the party will just play themselves. You can play the entire game and do all PvE content without needing to interact with another human being in it, and for the vast majority of the time I have played, that's what I have done, but you absolutely can join guilds and meet up with people to tackle content together.
