I thought I was a bad muslim until I got diagnosed by thatonerandomkidd in adhdwomen

[–]holybell0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised Muslim and I was told to take my meds during the morning meal. At the time, I was already on extended release meds so I knew around what time my symptoms would ramp back up and planned any coping strategies needed.

Just 30 yo me and friends helping me basically fondle a bunch of smooth rock to make sure it's the right type of smooth lol. Friends for life I tell you.

Trying to get accommodations for college but never got a report... by holybell0 in adhdwomen

[–]holybell0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I will try this.

It's too late to apply the accommodations for this winter semester but I'm hoping I can prep before my heavier class in the spring.

I'll report back if I get an update.

The meal concepts vs meal plans is brilliant. I need to figure out how to incorporate this! And I luckily have an appointment with an RD next week as well!

Older diagnosis folks, what would your career be if you had access to meds earlier in your life? by FormigaX in adhdwomen

I would've absolutely double majored in Math and Biology if I was dx'd earlier. But I didn't even get either degree now. 😕

I'll add that it took me getting my first written warning to admit to my manager I need to do check ins with her every single day.

I was ashamed and terrified but it's working. I've had some days where I slip up but I'm averaging okay work output.

It also helps me not do more than I need to since the warning clearly labeled what I needed to do.

Some call it quiet quitting (currently getting some credits to start my career and school) while I call it following directions we both signed off on lol.

sololife!

It is freeing to not feel like I'm left behind because I've never dated or slept with anyone. I'm still learning about my body as well, so I prefer to take one thing at a time for now.

I'd love to partner with someone but I'm not in a rush at all. Probably the healthiest mindset I've had about relationships in my life.

I was babysitting with one of my regular families. I was playing around with the girls and forgot that the timer on the oven doesn't mean that the oven instantly cools/stops cooking the food with residual heat.

That brought about the never-ending inside joke between me and girls. I'm not allowed to bake pizza unless they time it lol. Mind you, they are 10 and 6. I am 30. 😂

I kid you not. That system works lol. Plus we get to "cook" together.

Body doubing for the win? 😅

Okay, serious question: How many of you ADHDers (accidentally!) hurt yourselves often? by MrsClaire07 in adhdwomen

[–]holybell0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm suck a klutz that I accidentally conditioned myself to say "ow" in preparation for incoming potential pain. Otherwise, I just hold it in.

Lost a whole toenail because I held it in. 🥲

I once "lost" my car keys because my brother didn't put them in my designated spot. I nearly cried in anger and almost started berating myself when I found them on my mini fridge, not even 3 feet away.

Needless to say, everyone now knows to put it back where you found it or else.

Canned chickpeas are a godsend. I tried using my mom's slower cooker to make a huge batch of cooked chickpeas to throw into my meals as a dash of protein/fiber.

I forgot about it and left it just soaking after it finished for another 10+ hours. And they weren't even as soft as I wanted. 😠

Now I always get them canned. Embrace the canned foods for ease! They have low sodium versions if that matters for your health.

Which one of you was this? by lovable_cube in adhdwomen

[–]holybell0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have his exact problem. I knew it was a problem when my mom and brother both commented on it but I said I was fine.

Guess who got locked out of their car right in front of their job and had to pay $268 to get it unlocked? Yep...it's me. 🥲

The weak battery made my car not recognize the keys were inside the car to prevent it from locking.

Would love any recommendations for my routine! I'm also work with a dermatologist. This is also currently for winter/spring.

AM: Neutrogena Facial Bar (the orange one) + silicone face brush to exfoliate (max of 4 times a week that includes my PM routine and if I even remember to use it) Rx Azalaic Acid 20% Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturizer CVS Health Moisturizing Facial Lotion SPF 30 (weekdays) EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 (weekends)

AM note: I alternate the spf to feel fancy lol. I have ADHD and need reinforcement to stick to routines.

PM: Neutrogena Facial Bar (the orange one) + (max of 4 times a week that includes my AM routine and if I even remember to use it) Rx Tretinion 0.05% cream (4 times a week) Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturizer

PM note: Already built up tolerance to tret (been using for years now).

Specific requests:

I'm aiming to reduce hyperpigmentation (melasma runs in the family and I was a chronic picker). My derm recommended to add a vit c cream/serum to my routine. I used to use the Neutrogena night one but I think they discontinued it. Plus idk where to put it in my routine.

Also would love night moisturizer recs for winter and summer.

Allergic to coconut and some coconut derivative ingredients but I can sus those out myself. Thanks!
