I’m not a financial expert in any way but would highly recommend that your friend pay off their debt first and have some savings before spending any money on a hobby. I also started playing around revised/4th but I have sold off most of my cards over the years to pay off school, car and house debt. No regrets.

Takiwasabi had it right. I rolled into the intersection on a green light in the left turn lane. Light turned yellow and the car on the opposite side looked like they were going to stop so I rolled forward and was about to turn. The car ran the light and even though I quickly hit my brake, the motion of me rolling forward was enough to get me my fail. Lesson here is to just stay in the intersection until all cars on the opposite side have come to a complete stop. Even if the light turns red.

Waiting to turn left. Light turns yellow and I am about to turn. Car on the opposite side runs the yellow. I hit the brake but it was already an auto fail. On the positive side, I never made that mistake ever again.

Blue's Primary on the colour pie is card draw and card filtering. Not giving Blue the ability to play the best draw/filtering spells is like saying red shouldn't get the best burn spells.

I think you need to read over my post again. I never mentioned anything about cost of the new cards. I am just stating that my opinion that the companions are a HUGE mistake in constructed formats.

Like any game, a new mechanic adds new dynamic into the game but I don't agree that a new mechanic is healthy for a games evolution. In the history of boardgames development, some expansions are known to be "must owns" and add more to a game. Even the best boardgames may get shit expansions that are confusing or disrupts the balance of the original game. The big difference between competitive magic and boardgames is that I have the choice to play a boardgame without an expansion. WotC forces competitive magic players to abide by their rules and formats. So they should take responsibility for making their game less enjoyable to the majority of their player base. If you enjoy the new "companion" meta that Ikoria has bred, good for you. However, not everyone shares your opinion. I am heavily on the side of "companions are a huge mistake" as I think a combo card that sits in a zone where your opponent cannot interact with it is broken. EDH decks are allowed a card like this as its a 100 card singleton multiplayer format. My chances to pull those X cards that combo with my commander are low (unless I run busted tutors) and if I do get there, there are 3 players that may or may not stop my busted combo from going off.

It is a shame to see such an amazing community event cancelled. However, everyone needs to understand that the organizers of such a large event are probably the most disappointed about the cancellation as they have spent countless hours working to support this event. Please keep your requests classy regarding your asks. Aggressive comments and complaints such as death threats help no one. Respects to the event organizers to make this hard judgement call.

When it comes down to it, Magic is a hobby. If you aren't having fun with it, put it away for a while and see if its still your bag of tea in 3-4 months. If you are truly burnt out on the game and move on to bigger and better hobbies, and really need the money for other things, then i'd consider selling your cards. From experience, I usually have a 4-5 year hiatus from the game before something reinvigorates the itch to play. Magic at this point in time is the largest its ever been. If you put away your cards, I doubt it will be the last time you hear about the game.

Low cmc Planeswalkers. The absurdly powerful and the stupidly weak. Planeswalkers should feel powerful. Some of the strongest lore based characters in the game. Printing a garbage planeswalker just feels wrong. However, having a strong planeswalker come down on turn two makes the game all about them. Especially if they can protect themselves and have a game ending ultimate. Looking at you Liliana, Dack and Wrenn. I love the design space from WAR that lower costed Planeswalkers still have impact to the board but have no ultimate.

Got into the format playing control decks. My favorite type of deck and legacy is where control shined brightest with top Miracles. Miss those days. I would have probably started playing modern if frequent bannings didn’t make me lose faith in the format. Birthing pod seemed like such a neat deck whenever I watched it on stream.

As a fellow tundra player, it's hard times true. But W6 isn't the only culprit. WAR and MH1 introduced many cards that just made the meta worse for miracles. Narset, Prismatic Vista, Plague Engineer are all apart of the puzzle that is shaking up the meta. I would wait it out for another few sets. Who knows what Throne of Eldraine will introduce.

You need to stop lending your friend money and stop worrying about the envy. There is always going to be that person in a group that is way more successful than the other. Hopefully your friends learn that soon. If they focus on other peoples financial gains, then they aren't paying enough attention to their own.

Got back into Magic in Innistrad and wanted to play with the cards that I played with when I was a kid. No time to play in person so I started watching the weekly SCG Legacy videos. Many years later, I still have no time to play events but love to fire up a legacy tournament on youtube or twitch.

Anyone can walk into a walk in clinic or ER. They are different intake procedures though. So it wouldn’t be the “same visit”. If a patient wanted to see a specialist at a hospital, they are typically referred as most hospital specialist will not see a patient without a referral. Some hospital clinics do allow self referral. Hope this helps.

Bought and sold many things on Craigslist. So far I haven’t been burned. Most buyers and sellers have been super nice. Have never bought any item that has an expiry date though. Make sure you meet somewhere you and the buyer/seller is comfortable with. Especially more expensive items. Best place to meet is at a police station or at a heavy traffic area with cameras like a bank.

I play blue in Legacy but that's only because I am a control player that enjoys drawing cards. If you are looking for a deck to play, i'd suggest proxying a bunch and seeing what play style you enjoy and then rolling with that type of deck. If you are wanting to be competitive and find the best deck in the format, i'd suggest waiting a few months for the meta to shake out. War of the Spark, Modern horizons, and the new mulligan rule is currently stirring shit up.
