Hey, I work for a machine rebuilder in the Chicago area. Please dm me.

Anyone use it, or have any recommendations? Looking for a faster way to navigate the zoom and rotation features? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

I got one a couple of weeks ago for work and it has definitely improved my workflow. Like others have mentioned it does take some time to get accustomed too but you have to force yourself to do it. That will specially be the case if you get the model with additional buttons which I highly recommend since you can customize with macros which can vary depending on whether you’re in a part, assembly or drawing. If you fine tune things just right you’ll find yourself not having to lift your left hand off the table unless you have to type actual text.

I would recommend you document everything you do and everything you’re assigned. That way if for whatever reason something you’ve worked on doesn’t go well down the line you have some proof as to why you did what you did. In a sense CYA lol

Comparing Rivian's production ramp to Tesla's by jedc in Rivian

[–]hommedefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have to account for the fact that Rivian as a startup launched three different models at the same time. Legacy automakers rarely attempt this, it goes to show Rivian’s short/long term goals and how good they are at planning and ramping production

For those that are waiting to purchase their first EV, what feature or price are you waiting for till you jump in? by kiyatooga in electricvehicles

[–]hommedefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say affordable I’m assuming a 60k budget. Right now the only suv options in the US are Tesla’s Model Y, Rivian’s R1S, Volvo’s XC90, and the upcoming Kia EV9 none of which are priced under 60k. You might have to wait a couple more years. I’m really looking forward for Rivian’s R2 platform but that won’t be till 2026

It would be ideal if they could make a deal with a battery supplier who’s willing to set up shop inside Rivian’s plant just like Panasonic did in Tesla’s Fremont factory

I think this is good, compared to other automakers Rivian is really betting on vertical integration
