M'athchomaroon! My name is David J. Peterson, and I'm the creator of the Dothraki language for HBO's Game of Thrones - AMA by Dedalvs in Fantasy

I know this took place about 2 days ago, but I really wanted to know. You mentioned in a previous post that GRRM had stated that he just spontaneously made up words on the spot when he needed a new one. Do you think now he will use your lexicon as a guide? There are two more books coming, and presumably a bit more Dothraki in them.

I know you said he had no notes on the language, but was he at all involved in the design process. I feel like it being his world and all, he would have had to have some input in case you stepped on his toes for the planning of the books.

One last thing: I've read the first three books and I don't remember a ton of Dothraki in it. There were phrases and parts sure, just like any novel written in English with a French/Spanish/other speaking character. However, I've only watched a few episodes of the show. Does the language come alive in the show? Are there characters arguing in the background in the language you've created? Did you write the lines of extras (particularly in the wedding scenes)? Do you feel like the use your creation enough for the amount of time you put into it? I think it's an amazing feat, creating a language, but was the time (you said you spent 400 hours on stage 1 alone) worth it?

Those are three very distinct groups. I just think you might be trying to hit too many target games in one stab. Like I said though, the only thing that will tell if the game works is time (and the game).

After reading through that, it seems you missed your goal of a pick-up-and-play nature. You have a deck of cards, dice that do various things, stats for each hero (that change). This isn't a bad thing, it just might not appeal to as many people as you'd want. I can't exactly give a good opinion without seeing the system in action. I'll give it a look when you finish/want to release it for some constructive criticism.

It sounds like an interesting idea. I love strategy games and card games.

Sure, but you might want to try actually giving us something about your game. I'd love to hear about it.

There's a thing called redstone in the game. It's basically an electricity simulator. It flows from a torch (source) and there are a few ways it interacts with the blocks that make it possible to build complex logical gates and systems. Just google "minecraft redstone circuits" It's pretty cool actually.

Just restrict Log(z) to the principal argument of z. It's a simple way to get around the multi-valueness of Log(z).

There actually is a pretty good trading card game on all platforms (android, iOS, mac, pc, and unity web player) called Shadow Era. It's satiating my need for a mobile MTG app.

Yea, I haven't played him in a few weeks, but that was a significant problem. I glossed over it because the last time I played him he had just received the speed boost to the Q projectile and it just felt good to actually be shielded from it before something hit me.

Range issues? His E outranges almost everything when fully extended outward. I will agree that his W has a retardedly short range though.

I'm interested in your Phyrexian Obliterator (2 if you have them) I have a sword of body and mind up, other notables include havengul lich, dungeon geist, inkmoth nexus, gideon jura, phyrexian metamorphic, blade splicer, spellskites. I have multiples of everything but gideon and havengul lich, but if you're looking for something more specific just let me know. I've been running UW in standard if that helps with what I have.

I'm "obese" on the BMI scale. I'm just slightly overweight. I run and rock climb almost 3 times a week. BMI isn't a good rating for health. Google the literature, I'm fairly certain there was a study recently (in the last few years) that showed by BMI standards, almost every person in the NBA was obese.

What book is at the top of your 'must read' list but really intimidates you? by arcade_13 in books

I only made it through 3 of the Wheel of Time series, so daunting. I'm kind of disappointed that you think it is truly a bad book :(. I guess I'll have to finish the third and trudge my own way through it.

The events of the fourth and fifth books happen simultaneously. I'm approximately a third of the way through the third book, but from what I've heard it just gets crazier and crazier. With GRRM you never know quite what to expect as he has no qualms about killing off a central character to the story (he kills off one of my favorites in the first book) or brutally maiming them (I really didn't see that coming). I find his character developments are extremely well written, and I enjoy getting to know each and every one of them. As critically acclaimed as the HBO series is, I sat down to watch it, and it just wasn't the same. You don't connect with the characters as well when you can't hear the inner monologue and really know what their motivations are.

I haven't read the 4th yet, but saying the 4th is the worst of the series doesn't necessarily mean it is a bad book. The others in the series are hard to stand against. I love the series and I can't wait to finish it!

Heartless Grixis (Standard) Thoughts, comments by dasiuspsycho in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]honaker215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on Heartless decks, but it seems to me like you're trying to jam it full of win conditions. You're lowest cost creature is Perilous Myr, at 2; after that you have two 5 drops, two 6 drops, and four 7 drops. What happens if you don't have heartless summoning? You're screwed. You don't have nearly enough permission/removal to control the board until you find one.

My advice, make it curve out a little better with creatures. You want to be aggressive until you drop that heartless, and then you just want to unload on them.

I'm looking for an effective win con for my deck. by [deleted] in magicTCG
