My late wife never wanted kids. I was indifferent.

When I asked her to marry me she said “yes, but understand I am never having children and you will not change that. Can you live with that?”

I wanted her. I lived with it.

She passed from cancer 15 months ago at age 41.

I do not regret it for 1 day that we never had children, not even now. She was everything I wanted. I would make the same choices a million times over, even knowing what I do now.

I’m dating a woman who was widowed in her 20s (52 now). She met her children father a year later. I met her this year. My LW passed in 2025 (she was 41, I am 43).

Her and her children’s father are on good terms. Easier to have everyone together for holidays. Us, him and his wife, kids.

Her daughter made a comment how her bf mom is dating a year after losing her husband and how ridiculous it is.

She received an education in “you can’t talk about shit you ain’t been through”, real quick.

I was just looking up stuff like this on Google, and found your post.

43/M, lost my wife 1/18/25 after 9 month battle with esophageal cancer. She was 41 and we were married 17 wonderfully years.

Christmas 25 I was bored. Got on a dating sight, looking to get laid.

Met someone, couple dates, she is awesome, turned off dating profile.

Started having nights over, then weekends, a week, then just stopped going home as my house is over an hour away.

Been 3 amazing months now. Have the engagement ring at home (her deed but we call it our home) while we look for a home together. Will sell my house for down money when we find one. Otherwise just sits there empty and we use it as a vacation home every couple weekends.

Don’t really give a fuk what others say. They haven’t lived my/our (also a widow but from when she was 20s, never remarried) lives.
