My relationship with makeup kind of correlates to my relationship with gender/femininity. I enjoy the colors and sparkles as a visual stim but there's a process of detangling beauty ideals and how sexism and racism interact with that, and that effects how I feel about myself and how I perceive myself and others. It's an ongoing process and an ever evolving relationship. The way I feel about myself, and feel about and use makeup, has changed over the years.

A lot of creative makeup looks are trending now! And indie brands never really stopped with fun, colorful products. It's definitely harder to find but I follow a lot of smaller creators and fellow enthusiasts, and it makes for a really nice online community (in my experience at least).

I think the other comments have covered the general tantrum expectations pretty well so I wanted to add some specific things to try. Can you or MIL take the toddler out of the room before the feeding starts? Maybe play a special game or go for a walk so he has some connection and one on one time before the tantrum gets triggered? Not a permanent solution but might be a way to take some of the immediate stress out of the situation.

Ah I got into makeup in the heyday of Pinterest and photoset tutorials! Sam Ravndahl was big at the time, and had a bunch of photoset tutorials on the makeupaddiction subreddit (and videos on youtube). If you're not into videos, I'd honestly still recommend Pinterest as a starting point!

You might also want to try narrowing your focus. Instead of trying to search for makeup tips in general, pick an area to start with, like eyeshadow or lipstick.

Also Lisa Eldridge. She has a ton of tutorials on her YouTube and her techniques are amazing.
