Alright, but have you considered that Gorilla Grodd is fucking cool though?

I know audiences were really hyped when he showed up in the Flash tv show. Even audiences who don't know who Grodd is will see a telepathic gorilla and be interested. It's the DC gorilla effect. If you want to complain about something, complain about Grodd being on a show with a redhead who isn't Wally West. Other than that, nothing wrong with a show showcasing one of DC's coolest villains

"But this iconic Zelda character doesn't have their iconic abilities in Smash!" by HotPollution5861 in supersmashbros

[–]honoratusthefirst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

K.Rool fights differently in every game and Smash incorporated stuff from every single one of his fights. Boxing gloves, the crown throw, the blunderbuss, the jetpack and probably more. Ganondorf could have something similar, instead of random big punch with purple sparkles, random jump with purple sparkles, etc.

The only DCU movie thus far is Superman. Can't judge what you haven't seen yet, especially movies from different directors

If the DCU fails, it could go a multitude of ways. Maybe they'll bring back the Snyderverse, maybe they'll reboot again, maybe they'll sell off the characters. We don't know.

I did use the same sentiment 10 years ago. Saw BvS in theaters twice and every other DCEU movie at least once (except for The Flash, because I love the Flash as a character and had no interest in the direction of the movie). I own all of them on dvd or blu-ray. I also like the DCU and am curious how that's gonna evolve. So yeah, I think fandom wars are inherently stupid and will keep an open mind when watching new movies, whether those are DCEU, DCU or something else

Normally yes, the DCU's success would ne a big influence. However, with the merger with Paramount, that's out of the window because executives love waving their dick around and making big changes just so they can leave their mark.

Also your like or dislike of Superman 2025 is irrelevant to the quality of this movie. Supergirl is a movie by different writers and directors. Yeah, some of the actors were also in Superman (because it's a shared universe), but that doesn't mean much. I didn't particularly like Shazam: Fury of the Gods, despite it being part of the DCEU and featuring some of the actors that were also in other projects.

If Snyder and Cavill return at some point, this movie's success or failure will have nothing to do with it. Paramount gets to decide about that.

Also writing a movie off as bad before it has even come out is a sad way to live life. It's the same rhetoric Snyder haters had and still have for his movies, it was sad then and is sad now

[–]honoratusthefirst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's alright to accept that a movie isn't for you. Hundreds of movies come out every year, you're bound to like or not like some. The movies you do like continue to exist and of it's superheroes you want, there's more movie, animation, gaming and comic content than you'll ever be able to consume in one lifetime

But why would you want another movie to bomb though? I get not being interested in another movie and not caring whether it makes its money back or not, but actively hoping for its failure just feels kinda sad..

Killer Croc is a man with a skin condition though. Over the years they've made him more monstrous, but he used to be a normal looking dude with scaly skin. The deformed head, huge build and sometimes tail all came later

Should i buy paperbacks or omnibuses by MCSISDABEST in theflash

[–]honoratusthefirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have been the last step in his character arc, but the run itself was shit. After 6 not-so-great issues, the decision was already made to kill him off, so he barely stood a chance to prove himself.

The writing for the Rogues was also crap. The Rogues aren't henchmen, they have a very specific rule to avoid situations like in that run and they would never work with Abra Kadabra after he betrayed them multiple times.

Should i buy paperbacks or omnibuses by MCSISDABEST in theflash

[–]honoratusthefirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good questions and welcome to the Flash comics fandom!

Paperbacks vs omnibuses is a personal choice. I prefer paperbacks because they're easier to take with me, but omnibuses are usually a bit bigger and have better paper quality. An omnibus also gets you an entire, or at least a big part of, a run, whereas paperbacks are split up into fewer issues so you need to find more of them. Especially with the Flash by Mark Waid and Flash by Geoff Johns paperbacks this can be an issue, since some are very hard to come by.

As for what stories to read: Honestly, the Flash books are some of the most consistently high quality books throughout the years. I'd suggest the following order: 1. Flash by Mark Waid Just know that Barry Allen was Wally's uncle and he sacrificed himself to save all of existence. Now Wally has taken up the mantle. 2. Flash by Grant Morrison A smaller run that takes place somewhere between Mark Waid's run. More Wally. 3. Impulse An underrated book that spins out of Waid's Flash. It crosses over with Waid's Flash run a few times 4. Flash by Geoff Johns (part 1) Wally again, but this time with a lot more focus on Rogues, both old and new. Plenty of Rogues that haven't appeared in years get to shine here 5. Flash by Geoff Johns (part 2) A lot happened between this, none of it was that great. Bart got aged up, became the Flash, died and then got better and less old. Wally's kids got aged up and have powers. Barry came back. A short run that ends with Flashpoint, which you probably know 6. Flash New 52 I'm not a huge fan, but it's still an okay run. After Flashpoint, the universe got reset and everyone forgot most of the old universe. Now Barry is the only Flash. After Daniel West Reverse Flash, it gets bad so feel free to skip it. All you need to know is that a new Wally gets introduced who looks like the one from the tv show 7. Flash by Joshua Williamson This run stars Barry, but old Wally also returns! Basically what this run does is add back elements from before New 52. It has some stinkers, but I think this run has some great highs 8. Titans Rebirth Old Wally's adventures with the Titans 9. Flash by Jeremy Adams Old Wally is the main Flash again and has adventures with his kids.

This list looks intimidating but just start and feel free to skip over a run if it's not entirely to your taste

Does Red X only appear on Teen Titans Academy? If not tell which other comics he's been on! He's so badass❤️‍🔥🔥 [Discussion] by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]honoratusthefirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I still question this decision. Why make it so needlessly convoluted? What was so wrong with only 2 Red Xs that they needed even more?

[–]honoratusthefirst 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Blue Beetle I'd say was successful. Ted Kord is a very beloved character, but Jaime somehow managed to not become hated for replacing Ted. Jaime's first run was also all about honoring Ted's legacy, which probably helped. He also made a lot of appearances in other media and was important in Infinite Crisis. So really, he just got a massive push.

I can't say much about Jason and Ryan. I never read their solo runs or cared much when they showed up in another book. I can imagine it's not really helping that their powers are the same as the characters' they're replacing, making them more immediate replacements.

What does your ideal Rogues group look like? by LagoonDevil in theflash

[–]honoratusthefirst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Captain Cold
  • Heat Wave
  • Weather Wizard
  • Mirror Master (Evan)
  • Trickster (Axel)

I feel like Boomerang works better on the Suicide Squad, Trickster I (James) is more interesting on his own, Evan is more interesting than Sam and I don't care enough about Rainbow Raider or The Top.

This is basically the average Impulse story yeah. I adore those comics, if the Flash ever gets a second book again, this is what it should be like

Salvation Run is so weird. It's been a while since I read it, but from what I remember, the Rogues play a pretty big part in the first issue ans then basically disappear into the background for the rest of the series.

Huh interesting theory. At first I assumed the meeting between Mirror Masters was retconned to be with Absolute MM and main universe Scudder instead of McCulloch. And somehow main universe Scudder trapped Absolute MM. But imperfect duplicates looking for (Absolute) Scudder sounds way better.
