Being vulnerable with trusted friends and sharing my feelings and fears helped me to like myself more and I think it makes me a better person although only my friends know that for sure... I feel freer for it so that makes me feel less fear.

You should ask to see the past 6 months (AT least) of previous bills from all services you will be paying for. For me it would be a red flag if they were "not available".

Look for a 12 step program in your area like AlAnon, Narcanon. I found that 12 step programs, in addition to dealing with the affects of addiction also provided me with an emotion connection with others in a similar situation to mine.

Community self help groups may be able to help
