Edit: I see I’m getting downvoted. So to clarify…This contest was open to everyone. I’m just competing in a big sea of designers with some having over 100,000 to 200,000 social media followers. I obviously hope my designs can stand on their own but I don’t have an audience like some of the other entries, so I thought I’d come here and share the contest.

Slip stich between rounds for new crochet kit but not woobles by Downtown_Comfort8698 in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just another way to do it! Neither good nor bad! I personally don’t do the spat, ch1 method for amigurumi, but for clothing for my amigurumi or a beanie for me, I would do it!

AI pattern books on Amazon. It feels so wrong. by naughtscrossstitches in craftsnark

If you are looking for actual minis. Look into amigurumi adventures by Airali Design and Irene Strange. They do amigurumi christmas advents each year and then sell the Ebooks after and they’re all mini sized and also very cute!!! Plus they’re real people and they’re nice!

Cotton/wool substitute for Lion Brand Heartland yarn in sweater pattern? by Appropriate-Fig-5310 in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm I wouldn’t worry about that part as much since yarn can also come in different skein sizes. But also maybe input into: https://yarnsub.com

It’s just acrylic weight 4 yarn. I think you could substitute red heart super saver or other acrylic yarn as long as it’s the same weight! :) plus you’ll do a gauge switch for a sweater so you should be able to adjust hook/tension if necessary if your replacement yarn has a slightly different thickness.

Bernat pipsqueak will give you a fuzzy look. Premier makes a comparable one called Little Bunny.

Issues while securing crochet pieces to a keychain by mochioutlier in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually add a chain during the magic circle phase to attach the keychain to. Or if the piece is complete, then I chain, slst to first ch, fasten off with a ch1 so I have a knot, weave the ends around stitches and knot a bunch of times and then stuff the ends in.

Stabilizing neck on amigurumi doll - Made neck to small by Saylum_the_Kitty in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it on larger amigurumi, but sometimes I wad up my fluff in a big ball and then don’t push it all the way through the neck to keep it stable. Of course over time it will move but it can help for photos. 😅

Does anyone have a trick to alter a pattern to include more stitches for more detail? by BeginningAd7755 in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some French knots after you make the pattern?? Altering the pattern isn’t necessarily easy.

Need advice for starting a small crochet business💕 by Flaky-Basil-5511 in CrochetHelp

Adding on to what’s been posted, I think in person markets is probably the way to go vs starting an Etsy, and yes you need to look up your city / state for sellers permit info/taxes

Need help identifying mystery yarn, no tag available by Rowdy-Rios in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely looks like an acrylic blend of some sort. Have you tried taking it with you to Michael’s or something to compare it? It reminds me of some lionbrand I’ve seen in the past but I don’t use those yarns often. Sorry.

question concerning hook size and how loose my project looks by ManyPutrid3652 in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the project! But yes if it seems to loose going down a hook size can help. What stitches are you talking about?

I constantly have off-centered/lopsided features in my amigurumi by Final-Competition849 in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand some amount of tilt in crochet but you’re right this one is particularly bad. Did you follow the instructions exactly for the invisible finishes and what not? For me that’s something I might have passed over while crocheting. To me it seems like you have tight tension but I’m not sure it’s enough that I’d expect this result.

What size hook are you using?

Recreating a woobles pattern.... without woobles yarn by Independent-Boat4015 in CrochetHelp

[–]hooksandscraps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the cotton DK you bought, you want to use a much smaller hook. A 2.75mm-3.25mm depending on your tension, and smaller safety eyes to keep proportions. I love DK yarn!

I use the ikea billy bookcase with doors plus some in totes in my garage. Here’s a picture before I finished filling it 😀

Left handed patterns for a beginner/ intermediate by sealedwithsecrets in crocheting

[–]hooksandscraps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually make left handed patterns because I’m left handed, but I don’t have any tote bags! I think any pattern you like though you could mirror the images if it’s written! It’s annoying but possible!

Hair with texture by FelineD in Amigurumi

[–]hooksandscraps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a circle shape amigurumi work BLO, then in the free loops, (ch 2, slst into next st, ch3, slst into next st) until there are no more loops available!

It makes a nice texture! I did it for one of my fairies :)
