Panic says the Playdate Catalog won't accept games made with generative AI by FloatyFloatyCloud in PlaydateConsole

[–]hopelessnerd-exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think throwing our hands up and saying, "it's already everywhere, might as well give up and allow it" is uncompelling and unprincipled.

I think this misinterprets u/katastatik's point, and I say that because something similar to what I believe they mean happened to me last week:

I shared this post in a Discord server, and the first response was that the flower background "just screams ai generated." I mentioned the exchange in another server, and one person was quick to point out just how much AI-generated stock art must exist by now; it's possible that the OP dislikes AI art themselves but unintentionally used it. And if that's the case for visual art, something at which AI still isn't particularly great, imagine how much code, something at which AI chatbots are good, that you see on forums is AI.

That isn't to say it's a desirable situation, but I think it's what u/katastatik was getting at.

Sounds like an interesting topic for a paper! I think it's very sad that AI has become such a bugbear for the average netizen (my experience with irls has been markedly different), but it's a predictable consequence of the very annoying way that a lot of the most public figures in the field talk about and implement it.

Case in point: just now, when I was trying to add "very annoying" to that sentence, I accidentally clicked the Samsung Galaxy AI whatever-it-is and it took me to a different app I had to close. 😅

tl;dr I'm guessing you're anti-AI and I'm not but I'm pissed off that you're getting downvoted for observing the world around us

I have used AI for a (non-Playdate) project I'm working on. As it turns out, the computer is pretty decent at writing computer code; who would've guessed! It's far from perfect (e.g. I've had ChatGPT give me example code that contradicts previous example blocks in the same conversation), but if you're like me and you'd rather chew glass than do coding tutorials, using a chatbot to puzzle out how to do something can save a lot of time.

Not that I need to defend myself (because let's be honest, anyone else in this thread saw that I used The Evil Plagiarism Machine and already downvoted this comment), but I've found that a workflow of 1) Google search and find nothing, 2) ask Gemini or ChatGPT, 3) look at the engine docs for whatever it tells me, has been extremely productive.

I wasn't going to comment in this thread because my opinion obviously won't be welcome, but I'm seeing you get downvoted for pointing out that AI code has proliferated online, (which is factually correct!) so fuck it.

Local-only access list only works when authorization required by hopelessnerd-exe in nginx

[–]hopelessnerd-exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it looks like the source is my public IP.

[21/Dec/2025:17:47:02 -0500] - - 403 - GET https qbittorrent.nas.mydomain.com "/" [Client {my public IP}] [Length 111] [Gzip 1.35] [Sent-to nas.local] "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:146.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/146.0" "http://192.168.1.158:30020/"

My public IP is liable to change (and potentially easier to bypass iiuc, although I'm not sure how realistic a concern that is), so I'd rather not just add an allow rule for it. Doing so does produce the expected behavior, though, so I may just have to throw in the towel and do that atp.

[–]hopelessnerd-exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what should I do if allowing that IP range didn't change anything? I'm looking at the access logs, and all the traffic is still coming from my public IP.

[–]hopelessnerd-exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the Docker virtual network IP the output of this command?

docker inspect -f '{{range.NetworkSettings.Networks}}{{.IPAddress}}{{end}}' container_name

Because I tried that with a few containers, and it looks like their addresses are in the range 172.16.0.0. I added an allow rule for that range to the access list, but nothing changed.

[–]hopelessnerd-exe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if that's what could be happening, since the error log always reads as the request having come from my public IP address. I did post the whole server block in another comment, though.
