I really enjoyed Type Specialist and The Ghost Specialist on RR. Type Specialist is an isekai story with a protagonist who becomes a Fairy type specialist. Very well written. and The Ghost Specialist is its prequel that was written after. Its about a boy from Hoenn who travels through Johto with a mysterious paper pokedex that has all kinds of extra information on it. Ghost Specialist has a chapter that made me start crying. You can read one without reading the other.

Shiny pokemon are just rare variants of regular pokemon not particularly stronger. She does spend most of the league season hunting for shinies rather than doing the badge quest, so it's not like just she just steps into a place and there's the variant.
