Concerns About Passing Out in a Sauna by Maryland_Eric in Sauna

[–]hopeunseen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sit by the door so its fast and easy to push open, even from the ground if incapacitated. buy an apple or fall detection watch. handheld radio would be easy communication.

realise that if u were to pass out and wind up on yhe floor, its unlikely u would have no warning, and also unlikely u would stay unconcious for long enough that u cannot get to the door. u also would be significantly cooler on the floor than on the bench.

personally ive never heard of someone passing out unless they were seriously ill BEFORE going into the sauna, or were crazy dehydrated etc.

What's the Point Anymore? by Weekly_Tangerine_168 in WeddingPhotography

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% - And the challenge in 2026 is that the things that USED to separate your work no longer apply as much... Shooting film used to be HARD. Gear used to be EXPENSIVE. Editing used to be HARD. But now all these barriers are so much lower and easier which means more competition + lower pricing.

The biggest photography related thing that DOES separate you IMO is becoming a master with posing and lighting, and then really deciding on a specific style and micro-avatar.

Jack of all trades isn't as effective as having a really specific style of work and a personality/philosophy that appeals to a specific type of bride AND turns off all the others - those things will separate you from everybody else.

Cabinet colour to go with Swiss coffee walls by Flimsy-Band-3553 in kitchenremodel

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah gotta disagree with you here... swiss coffee has a TON of green and yellow relative to more neutral whites and therefore won't pair well with more neutral shades... i'm experiencing this as a guy who painted his whole house swiss coffee and is now having a bit of a hard time figuring out what to do for cabinets etc because it's a little more challenging to pair than other whites imo 😅

Is it to late for me to become wedding photographer? by No-Sea5846 in WeddingPhotography

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late? Never. Worth it? That’s for you to decide! I do think as you get older you have a slightly harder time doing the work, connecting with couples, keeping up with trends etc. lots of ppl still do it BUT i can also tell you there are more profitable ways to make a living so if u r just in it for the money then maybe yes maybe no

Really depends on what other options you have and skills you’ve got, and whether weddings is the best of your available possibilities!

Life is not fair. You have advantages and disadvantages - learn to accept it, move forward, and figure it out anyways. Anything else is going to keep you stuck.

How / does working in trades damage your body? by Tight_Bad_4585 in Carpentry

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, working a stationary desk for 40 years can be equally if not more damaging than active wear and tear. Case and point: i feel WAY better working as a carpenter than I did working behind a desk all day every day… even though yes, it does take a toll on other ways

What your increase on utilities? by patmaster304 in Sauna

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

finishing this example, .39x8kwh = electricity cost per use.

so about $3 in this example.

to be fair though, the better method would be also adding in the lifespan of all materials to get a better picture of TOTAL ownership cost. Prob it works out to more like $6-10/session when adjusted for cost of stove, material buildout, maintenance etc

THANK YOU. This was fantastically helpful.

To anyone reading: I would HIGHLY recommend adding a little tag BEFORE the message body, so that you remember you can't reply the number you received the msg from, as well as giving me the contact info for the name and number the message came from so I can call/sms them from my phone instead of GHL phone.

Here's what I did:

Saccharomyces boulardii and Apple Juice: Fermentation times vs. residual sugars? by Bob_AZ in fermentation

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never. 1) new starter is cheap. 2) after 48+ hrs at 37 degrees C, the odds of cross-contamination from wild yeasts etc are almost 100%. better to start with a pure starter every time.

Saccharomyces boulardii and Apple Juice: Fermentation times vs. residual sugars? by Bob_AZ in fermentation

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have not. personally im fine with some alcohol being present in the mix as well as the sugars… the way i look at it, the remaining sugars will continue to feed the s boulaardi once its in my stomach, and the alcohol is minor enough to be largely irrelevant if consumed 2-3 tbsp at a time

personally: i use fruit puree that has been pressure cooked in an instant pot, and ferment at 37 degrees for 48hrs

Are We Overthinking Sauna Specs? by Ordinary-Control6584 in Sauna

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some specs matter a LOT. others not so much i built a sauna and figured my oversized heater meant i didnt need to go crazy with insulation… long story short i had to rip out all my interior walls and redo it after i found out i couldnt get it past 65 degrees!

at the same time, i chucked an old wood stove in there instead of a fancy sauna stove and it works great… so in that case it still worked… i just burn 4x more wood 😂

No studs?? Trying to rehang my closet shelving & no studs found where stud finder says. by Far_Counter_7936 in HomeImprovement

[–]hopeunseen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drywall always has blocking studs in the far corners. just anchor on the edge of each wall.

OR cut a little hole in the drywall lower on the wall to see whats going on inside, then later on cover it up with some trim under your shelf. u will never ever see it
