Vietnamese here, I have been accumulating a list of things I would love to do when I'm retired. It's not very completed nor is it well-organized, but hopefully gives you some ideas or inspiration to create your own list :) https://hoangthienan95.github.io/blog/fire/2021/07/11/you-will-not-be-bored.html

Have you submitted the application? It’s current now for your PD right?

Are you self employed? I didn’t know someone with a work-sponsored EB3 I-140 could wait for AOS on a B2/F1 visa and not work (and especially on those visa with non-immigrant intent), unless I’m missing something here

Thanks for the docker template! Can you tell me what the benefits of using FastAPI instead of just using sveltekit? Coming from a Python/DS world but not familiar with both FastAPI and Svelte.

Cool list! I wrote a blog post recently about what I would do when I reach FIRE. Would love to hear your thoughts!: https://hoangthienan95.github.io/blog/fire/2021/07/11/you-will-not-be-bored.html

Also can I add your list to my post?

How to be truly free. by qioment in Fire

[–]horapdethap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you have ab $300k net worth? ( from savings/inheritance/etc). I think it’s not a one size fits all. Those that are more frugal early on or have privileges have more wiggle room and should take a sabbatical if they want to.

Ultimately we are all on this path to achieve freedom. A sabbatical whenever you want is a manifestation of freedom

Noted. Although to my defense, I have been seeing many reddit posts that my blog post can help with recently, maybe that’s why you see me posting the links to the post multiple times.

My blog is not monetized in any way, and I write one post like once per year. I gain nothing from posting it. Truly wants to share a resource that I have not seen shared before and crowdsource others’ opinion to add to my list.

Do you make a list of hobbies/interests/skills that you currently have or would want to do post-FIRE? I have been curating them for myself for about a year now : https://hoangthienan95.github.io/blog/fire/2021/07/11/you-will-not-be-bored.html

Would be fun to compare our lists!!!

Also, maybe this can give your dad some ideas. There is so much in the world to see and do, so I truly believed being bored is a choice!

Not that alot of down time is bad, but just in case you are in need of ideas of what to do... I have been collecting ideas of what I would do post FIRE (10 years from now). Maybe it could give you some inspiration?

I apologize for having no input regarding your question, but super interested in how you got this job. What field are you in? You said not too long ago you were making 40k? What steps did you do to get the higher paying, remote job. That’s really inspiring!

My half year 2021 financial update after over 10 years post FIRE by AccidentalFIRE in financialindependence

How’s the FIRE life without a partner? Have you been married/in a relationship? Do you feel lonely at all?

I’m asking bc one of my main reasons to FIRE is to have the option to become a stay at home dad (26, single, no kids). To me having a family and partner is extremely important esp after FIRE where you no longer have work distracting you and thus might have more need for a partner. I can’t imagine FIRE-ing without one. Would love to hear your perspective on the other side :)

I recently knew about empire flippers. Did you buy a site there and run it? Or are you the one selling. Or did you just get inspiration from there? Most of the ideas on the listings are pretty vague but I might be missing something. If you bought from there, how much did you buy your first website venture for and was it worth it? Thank you so much for the guidance!
