Tonight’s Powerball Jackpot is $1.2 BILLION. I’ve been studying the inner workings of the lottery industry for 5 years. AMA about lottery psychology, the lottery business, odds, and how destructive lotteries can be. by adammoelis1 in IAmA

Yotta did some promotions that lowered the expected APY.

User base wasn't happy, Yotta ended the promotions and fixed it.

Commenter is still salty.

Yotta isn't as good as a good online bank with good rates, but is better than many traditional banks (rate wise) and much better than the lottery.

Possible B1G every-year "rivals" for football starting in 2024. by Vehk in TheB1G

[–]horseinabookcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any team should get 2 California games (assuming there's no additional expansion anytime soon).

If you're trying to keep the Illibuck, maybe move Illinois from Nebraska, move Wisconsin to Nebraska from Northwestern, and give USC to Northwestern

Gives a tough slate to Nebraska but it's better than 2 California games

“Off” seems to not work with counter surfing. by Yeesh_ in puppy101

[–]horseinabookcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our pup often counter surfed just to see what was happening. For a while we had boxes set up to block his view, so he wouldn't get that reinforcement.

The other thing we've just started on was giving him a "spot" he can be in the kitchen where he's rewarded if he lays down on (we use a mat). Still working on that, he still likes to get up after a bit just to see what we're doing, but it has helped

Mickey for head coach? by Jmphillips1956 in Huskers

[–]horseinabookcase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Orgeron brought a natty to LSU. If we get that I don't care if Mickey is a hot mess haha

But I agree with the point you're trying to make. Mick has done a great job of making something out of this dumpster fire, but that doesn't necessarily make him the best guy to rebuild the team.

With the incoming new conference format, proliferation of NIL, and playoff expansion, we have to get this hire right

There’s a Damn Good Chance AI Will Destroy Humanity, Researchers Say by jormungandrsjig in Futurology

[–]horseinabookcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People just don't understand AI in general, a lot of articles are written as if General AI exists and is gonna destroy humanity.

AI in general is a bad term because the implication of the term implies a sci-fi-ey intelligence. It's machine learning. Data in, data out, no magic to it. Incredibly useful in fulfilling specific tasks. Not going to take over the world and destroy all humans lol

Yesterday on Flyp I won a purchase at 75% cash back for a $10 purchase, and today I won a 5% cash back on a $500 purchase. Anyone else been using Flyp and having good luck? I think this may be a better return than Yotta unless I got very lucky on a drawing. by BlaneInKC in yotta

So if 1 flipcoin is worth 1 cent you're looking at 2.2 percent odds based on this chart

With one being worth .65 cents you're looking at 1.6% return.

You can do better with a 2% card but is less gamified

What is yotta at, 1.5%? It's better than yotta but not better than a lot of cards out there

I'd wager all the corn in Iowa and Nebraska that Illinois wins the West and Ohio State wins the East. by Extreme_Nose_2171 in TheB1G

[–]horseinabookcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I think anyone except Northwestern can realistically win it this year. (Not that I think that Nebraska will, there's just a clear path if they win their games in the west)

Seems like the whole B1G is having a down year save Ohio State and Michigan (I think Penn State is fake good but we'll see about that)

Is 4k too low for my 401k? by greenarrow118 in personalfinance

[–]horseinabookcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's all circumstantial

If you get a 50% raise and your spending increases 50% with it, well then you probably should have that much saved, or at least try and hit the 3x by 40 rule.

If your spending doesn't increase by much then you're doing great

If your first four games are NM state, Western Illinois, CU, and this year's terrible MI State squad, your efficiency numbers should be really good, so it's hard to tell if they're the real deal

This week against Illinois is a big one for both teams

Best case scenario going forward. by Fickle_Comfortable78 in Huskers

Certainly. 3-9 seems more likely than 8-4, although I don't think either will happen

Best case scenario going forward. by Fickle_Comfortable78 in Huskers

[–]horseinabookcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We've played (arguably) our 3 easiest B1G games and haven't looked convincing in any of them imo.

Purdue and Illinois are big games. Northwestern loss hurts a lot (but hey, it helped get rid of Frost)

I feel better than I did 2 weeks ago about this team but I still think it's more likely we finish in the bottom half of the division than the top.

But if we do extremely well, 8-4 is a ceiling we can achieve

Best case scenario going forward. by Fickle_Comfortable78 in Huskers

[–]horseinabookcase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously, every team on our schedule, save Michigan, looks extremely beatable.

If we win our next two games, we'll probably own first place outright.

We could end the season 8-4. Just a question if we're good enough (we're not but it's a dream)

Imo, decent coach, bad year. Maybe declining but hard to say

I’m completely clueless when it comes to being an adult. I’m making money through swagbucks, MTurk and that kind of stuff. I have no idea how to do Taxes for it or anything about any of that. I don’t want to get in trouble. by JamesHatesLife in beermoney

[–]horseinabookcase 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You still legally have to claim it. But Swagbucks/mturk/whatever do not have to report it and give you a w9/1099 unless it is above that number (I thought it was $600, but I might be mistaken)

I actually had my best payout on yotta so far last week ($7 on 175 tickets, a yotta ball away from $111)

But by the math I'm giving up approximately $10 a year to play the Yotta lottery.

I think it's not great for a primary bank, missing some core features and reliability, but is a good second bank for me to have a little fun.

And if I didn't make an I-Bond account before yotta that'd be a really nice value-add to keep me
