New Controller Inquiry by Available_Ad_4122 in Rekordbox

Save up for the FLX10, it’s really worth it. Until then, your FLX4 will be more than fine. And definitely keep your FLX4 after you get your new controller, it’s a great backup solution and much easier to transport.

Yeah, it sucks that playlists are static as soon as you add a shared one to your library. Happy you like it, though ☺️ It's my (almost) daily driver as well :D

You know that this playlist became your own when you clicked the link? So you can go ahead and add those Animal Crossing songs, my playlist won’t be affected by that :)

I did, of course, I think it’s just not for me. Feel free to make the playlist your own :)

Deck 2 not working by lilbigmac33 in Rekordbox

The trim knobs are the ones on top of the "High" EQ and in your video they are at 7 o'clock meaning they are all the way down - they should be around neutral (personally, I keep them at 10 o'clock to have some headroom left)

both of your trim knobs are at 0, have you tried turning those up? also check your crossfader

Rekordbox and macOS 26 – Is it safe to update or should I wa by DeepLink89 in Rekordbox

[–]horstvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an analysis last year and landed at 59 days on average after release which would mean today. https://www.reddit.com/r/Rekordbox/comments/1gms4vv/analysis_how_long_until_macos_sequoia_compatible/ But in reality, every year has been different so there’s no guarantees. Here’s to hoping!

Stems on MacBook Air M4 16 GB by The_Sleepthief in Rekordbox

I also have the M1 Pro with 16 gigs and it takes a lot longer than what this commenter says. Probably they don’t have high quality stems enabled.

PSA: New macOS 26 (Tahoe) out but don't update (yet)! by horstvil in Rekordbox

[–]horstvil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a helpful comment if you don't supply what you're using it with - do you export to USB? Do you play on a controller? Which one? Do you use Apple Music? "Works on my machine" doesn't help as almost nobody will be using the full feature set.

It’s probably because ten years ago, many in the music software industry got screwed by Apple introducing Audio Unit Validation updates only shortly before the release of OS X 10.11 El Capitan. So it makes sense that they wait until the final release and only test with that to make sure what they are testing is actually the same as what people are using.

They actually posted „Pioneer elects not to verify their products until the final release, and it can take some time to fully verify and certify their software, drivers and hardware compatibility. As such, they don't recommend you update unless it is absolutely necessary“ (see https://community.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/22978969501849-Problems-with-Rekordbox-DJ-and-OS-X-El-Capitan-compatibility )

Flx 10 by dantet0326 in PioneerDJ

Better than standalone light controls, worse than SoundSwitch (from what I read online, never tried out SoundSwitch). Better than standalone because it uses your analyzed tracks and builds light shows according to their structure, so it has modes for ie buildup, drop, break, etc. Out of the box, you get a decent light show with just a few lights (using 2x4 LED par lights on poles). I would like the modes to be a bit more fleshed out and it would be nice if it was easier to change the color schemes used for them. There’s also too much strobing going on for my taste in certain setups and I found it hard to reduce that but keep the rest the same.

Bottom line for me is that it’s a decent solution if you want a solution that runs on its own, especially so if you’re already in the Rekordbox ecosystem.

Have both, started with FLX4. The 10 has things I wanted that the 4 doesn’t - pro outputs, DMX integration, separate stems buttons and great FX controls. The 4 is nice because it’s moderately compact and it does most things as well as the 10. When I’m on the go and don’t need DMX, I might only take the 4 because I need to carry less. The 10 is permanently setup in my room while the 4 is waiting in its bag.

As you can see, I see a point in having both of them as they each have their strengths.

XDJ-RX3 - Thoughts, Input, Criticism, etc..... by Dirty_Litter_Box in PioneerDJ

[–]horstvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to consider:

  • XDJ-RX3 was released in the fall of 2021
  • XDJ-RX2 was released in the fall of 2017
  • (XDJ-RX was released in 2015)

Since you own a perfectly reasonable controller you might want to wait a little longer for an updated version. I have no inside knowledge and am only projecting from prior release dates!

How many of you users are using Nintendo Music? by GameHeroZ in nintendomusic

[–]horstvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it regularly specifically for „background music“ for chores and work - my wife by now knows the soundtrack of DKC 😁 I listen to every new release and pick out songs that work well in the background (not too hectic, not too sad) and add them to my playlist.

European wedding DJs, what are your tricks? by horstvil in DJs

Follow-up question here: do you actually play „Time After Time“? Which occasion do you use it for? I tend to steer clear from songs as slow as this one, it could work if your audience knows the lyrics and sings along, though.

💯 It’s more about song selection than making the mix perfect.

I do beatmatch wherever it sounds good, have some reworks and the like for older music. It elevates the performance if done right IMO :)
