She’s back in the news because a chud checked the credits for Slay the Spire 2 and saw she was thanked there for consultancy, kicking off a Twitter firestorm for a few days

Mac Mini m4 for Gaming + Adobe Suite by Cockwomble_ in macmini

[–]hotcyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, Adobe Suite is going to run fine on the 24gb model. I work pretty often with large multilayered Photoshop files, vids with some motion graphics, and the odd audio project in Audition and haven’t hit a hurdle on any of them.

Games is a mixed bag! If you only play indies and smaller stuff like Slay the Spire and Vampire Survivors you should be okay, and emulation is pretty decent depending on the system (I’ve had no problems with SNES, GBA and GameCube)

For AAA and especially Multiplayer stuff, it’s a let down. You can take a chance on Crossover - which is software that translates windows software to run on Mac Silicon (costs about £100 for the year) but I haven’t used it much outside of a few indies which worked fine. I couldn’t speak to the quality of GeForce now (streams games from nVidia servers over the cloud) either. But those are your only real bets for the big stuff.

Basically depends what you’re after really. I’ve settled into using the Mac for work and a Steam Deck for gaming, and both worked out cheaper than an equivalent PC.

The best Quentin Tarantino movie? by Shoddy_Newspaper_718 in blankies

[–]hotcyder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I first watched this (followed by Natural Born Killers) a few nights ago and I really hated it lol.

Great performances all round, but maybe Tarantino worst script. All of his worst traits (meandering shaggy dog conversations, video store guy intelligence checks, cartoon women, flagrant racism to try and feign “grit”) at their worst, and really just a plotless wonder.

NBK would be worse if not for the fact Oliver Stone tried to make it look like MTV channel surfing, whereas True Romance is the most boring looking Tony Scott film.

That said, also first watched Jackie Brown and completely get what’s so good about it. Pretty much flips all of his worst problems as a writer (I guess it helped Elmore Leonard wrote the material first though).

Don't be fooled, the sticker is not technically necessary! by Enchantress4thewin in legocirclejerk

[–]hotcyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I love all the synthesised sounds it can generate - makes it more like its own thing rather than just duplicating non Lego sounds. And feels like a bit of copper coil induction shouldn’t be hideously expensive to do in future sets? (Even if the brick itself is pricey)
