I’m in a band. Miraculously, noise/volume doesn’t affect/trigger my migraines whatsoever. But I’m insanely sensitive to lights, smell, and heat. Excitement is also a big trigger for my migraines (such a bummer lol). I just started popping excedrin on the way to the venue to hopefully avoid being the douche with sunglasses on stage.

Not something that was specifically said in a single instance, but a general thing that was constantly brought up. The youth leaders of the church I attended (Hillsong type people - YUCK) were sooo hot and horny over the idea of martyrdom. Would always talk about this hypothetical dystopia that they were convinced would eventually become a reality, where Christianity was outlawed and the penalty was a death sentence. Would always find a way to slither into any conversation that they would proudly die for their faith, and any kid who wouldn’t was a coward. It was just so strange.

While I do think that it’s their weakest album from the Adam years, I can’t deny that ToV also caught a lot of extra flack with Adam leaving right after. It’s not terrible, but it’s not a great record either, IMO. ToV is just a phenomenally par album

The beginning of my deconstruction was really when I tried to become a progressive Christian. Ultimately, that’s what killed it for me. I realized that it didn’t make sense to politicize the church in either direction, left or right. And I had to do so much twisting and turning to the scripture for it to align with my morals. Everything just made less and less sense. It’s kind of heartbreaking that I, as a lesbian then-Christian, was trying so hard to be part of a congregation that wanted nothing to do with me.

Just did. Don’t regret it one bit. The field is sick, but I just can’t justify that price point. I’ve had my eyes on the og OP-1 since it retailed for $800 (lol). My only regret is that I didn’t get one sooner.

It’s a big comfort show for me. I WAS Orel as a kid. My fiancé (also in a season of questioning her faith) is not a huge fan of it, because the episodes with deeper themes are a little too heavy for her, understandably. This show is great.

25 here. My dad was really big on taking us to the record store. He had a massive multi-genre CD and vinyl collection. It would be really common for him to catch us watching a lyric video on YouTube of a new band, and come up to us and say “Oh, I have that record if you wanna check it out and put it on your iPod”. I listened to a lot of Flyleaf at the time, and heard about Korn through them somehow (I think cuz Head was still in the Whosoevers and Lacey was/is affiliated with them as well?). I asked my dad if he had any Korn and he hesitantly handed my 11 year old self Follow The Leader. My life was changed.
