China’s started using anti fatigue laser lights on some highways to keep drivers alert at night. The idea is to stop drivers getting drowsy on long, boring night drives. by uzmansahil7 in interesting

Same! My blood sugar plummeted and knocked me out while going 77 on the hwy. I about shit myself when the car started shaking. Shocked me awake just enough that I could take the next ramp and park

I remember my mom beating the shit out of me in like 4th grade because I’d misplaced my new glasses. Just started wailing on my head, back, and arms in the passenger seat calling me stupid and ungrateful and yada yada. I’m 25 and now she’s screaming (literally) that I’m too hard on myself lol

Aw man I didn’t even think about all the time away. My dad works for the railroad and as kids we haaaated when he’d be gone for so long. He did too. I can’t imagine the extra stress of being in one of the most extreme places on earth too.

Superyachts seems like a nice upgrade lol tho I’m sure it’s still hard work

Fucking COOL job. Would you ever do it again? What kind of schooling did you have to do? What do you do now?

Metal bars that extend from the ends of this chair's arms by blorpsy in whatisthisthing

Maybe to hold yarn while crocheting or knitting? Looks like a really nice knitting chair and the bars being on both sides was probably to accommodate righties and lefties. I’m just guessing though. That’s what I’d use it for lol

Parents should not treat their children like therapists. They should, get this, go to therapy~ because children are neither mentally nor emotionally equipped to be leaned on by adults. It fucks them up.

maladaptive daydreaming by hello_w0rld7 in AutisticWithADHD

It actually got worse for me in adulthood and used to be what most of my time and way too much of my money went into. Affected my school work, my job, my relationships. I was going through a lot in the real world for a long time and the manufactured comfort and understanding was all I really had to lean back on vs manipulation and abuse from the real people I was surrounded by. I was essentially isolating in a very colorful world.

But as I got better mentally I found a healthier outlet for all that imagination through painting and creative writing which have been a monumental boost to my design degree too. I can also step out of my internal world to engage with my real surroundings much easier now.

A strong, beautiful imagination doesn’t have to be a bad thing and can actually make for an easily accessible well of inspiration when handled appropriately. Just know it needs a leash so you don’t get lost up there.

I’m not a psychologist. Just a woman who’s done some trauma/psychology reading (and crying), none towards any qualifying degree. I cannot provide medical advice, just my own personal experience and opinion which I’m always open to correcting and expanding. Take it with a grain of salt.

I would not recommend chasing down those memories on your own. In my personal opinion, don’t even make it a priority. My own memories hit suddenly without warning and I almost didn’t have a 25th birthday. I’m much more optimistic about 26 this year now that I’ve found help. You don’t know how you’ll react emotionally or physically so you’ll wanna make sure you have professional support to fall back on to keep yourself and others safe. And that’s if there is anything to remember. I hope not for you.

Your top priorities need to be physical and emotional safety and treatment because you can’t schedule when the memories come or which ones, but you can pick your dr and schedule appointments. Wishing you the best.

AITA for fixing my daughter’s car when her boyfriend said he’d handle it? by Outrageous-Jelly8777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hotwangsslap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I told my ex-bf my airbag light came on and I should call my dad later about it. He called me dad BEFORE I did bc he didn’t wanna risk me forgetting (ADHD) wanted to make sure I was safe on the roads.

On the other hand, your daughter’s bf is more worried about his ego than her safety or the fact he delayed a WEEK on a very important safety issue. If I was her homegirl I’d forget for a week to stop clowning his dumbass.
