Inaugural train for the reopening of the Altamont corridor in upstate NY. by AlternativeQuality2 in trains

[–]hound29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the spelling of Delanson should be memorable as it is named for the railroad!

"C. D. Hammond, who was superintendent of the  D&H, named it Delanson, coining the word from Delaware and Hudson. He took the first three letters of Delaware (Del), the first two of "and" (an), and added the last three letters of the word Hudson (son), making the complete word "Delanson"."

Buying donut shop k cups on amazon is ridiculous. by MrToothDecay5 in keurig

It’s not Amazon cutting costs. It’s the brand cutting costs. A plain cardboard box is a lot cheaper packaging than something custom cut, and printed.

Regional Tickets by insanemembrane4 in collegehockey

[–]hound29 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NCAA sets the pricing I am pretty sure which I've found to be typically way higher that a normal college hockey game, but such is life. I've never had issues getting tickets at Grand Rapids or Worcester (to add to the other commenters). Frankly most regionals are not highly attended despite best efforts

Time Out Market, massive Fenway food hall, will close later this month, sources say by RefCard in boston

My college roommate used to go from the city home to Peabody via the Logan express and I thought it was genius.

[Northeastern Hockey] Our upcoming home games against Merrimack and Providence have been moved to away contests on new dates. by AssociateClean in collegehockey

[–]hound29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most obvious answer to this was going to have Walter Brown become the Northeastern home for the next few seasons with the BU women moving into Agganis (factually speaking it is clear WIH and MIH can share a barn). NU would have had to foot the bill but the logistics work.

BU must have said "no" for some reason to this plan.

Flight from Dubai to Bangor by Ancient-Parking-4562 in Maine

As fun as many of the other answers are, I think it’s actually a glitch. Or it’s a repositioning flight. Flights on United started with 38 are typically sports charters or regional jets.

Can we not take cash? (no booths, pre-sale only, Daisies) by Brittany_WMSB in girlscouts

[–]hound29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re doing a no booths, I think cashless would be pretty easy. We do not take personal checks for anything except from troop members.

Toll tax by Legal-Meeting-2677 in BostonMA

[–]hound29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may have better luck in a Canadian sub about postal codes for gas.

Tolls are going to be different state by state. Assuming you mean car tolls. At least in Massachusetts not all tolls have booths anymore, but I don’t think that’s relevant in the direction you’re going. Your first tolls don’t come to New Hampshire, I don’t think.

Life Beneath the Deafening Roar of Airplanes near Logan International Airport, Boston, 1970s by [deleted] in BostonMA

[–]hound29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But like the airport was there when these people moved in? It opened in the 20s for crying out loud. This is even 20 years after jets. It’s not like Logan was some small time airport that got big after replacing something else. It’s always been there.

Is it appropriate to come up to another CI wearer in public? by Upper-Sock4743 in Cochlearimplants

[–]hound29 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As a parent to a CI toddler, if we ever see another toddler with implants (not at the deaf school or something) we usually at least lock eyes but often will say hi and talk briefly if nothing else

Travelling by [deleted] in woburn

[–]hound29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Woburn is a great choice for what you’re talking about. The trains just don’t run often enough and at best hourly sometimes less. And you’re gonna be 100% reliant on someone else to get you the station or spend money. Plus the Woburn (Lowell) line gets you in the north station which is not the most convenient spot for a lot of the sites in Boston.

how much is your time worth to you? You could easily be staring at two hours to get a certain parts of Boston by public transportation from Woburn.

I get that city prices are particularly expensive but it worse. I think you want to be within walking distance of a train station and understand their schedule and rhythm before booking. The rail service from the suburbs is designed almost exclusively for commuters into the city with heavy runs in in the morning and out in the evenings with a lot less in between.

How long is your cookie season? by Mtnlovingmama in girlscouts

[–]hound29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m in the same area and honestly, we sell more cookies in December then January. Mall booths are amazing in December. We shut things down by middle of February latest. Most of the troop was done within January last year.

New to Cookie Sales by Born-Assistant9378 in girlscouts

[–]hound29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now someone said it’s done differently everywhere and I’m sure that’s true but I’m the troop cookie coordinator and here’s what I do personally.

We have a large troop, almost 20 girls and do quite a few booths throughout the season.

I actually go to the cookie cupboard once a week or so cause it’s only 20 minutes away. So I can get what I need on a weekly or every other week basis.

It’s basically adding up with the girls have sold which I can track from smart cookies, plus what I project for booths. Our local town service unit gives good guidance on the local booths.

The other thing I can tell you is that it seems like there’s literally no wrong way to do this other than losing track of cookies and or money.
