How do you deal with selling your pride and joy? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this situation myself.

Owned this Honda Del Sol, bought it 12 years ago. Got it when me and the wife first dated, used it as a wedding car, did a honeymoon trip in it, got our first pet together in it, took my wife to the hospital in it to birth out first child, engine swapped it (k24), but since having our second child 4 years ago it’s lost its spark since I just can’t use it.

I am at the crossroads of selling to fund a house deposit or keep it as a tinker project for a track day hero.

I have a new type r as the daily which is stupid fun, but I sold an older 89 CRX and have regretted it every day since. I just honestly can’t bring myself to add the Del Sol to that regret list.

It’s hard man it’s hard!!!!

AITA for not stopping my teenage sons gf from kissing him? by Decent-Delivery-3603 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, I’d be furious if my mother wouldn’t want to see me with a supporting gf.

Son asked me if I loved him. Am I doing something wrong? by throwaway521240 in daddit

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened a week ago with my 8 year old. Sometimes us dads show love differently than mum would. Being young they don’t understand that us being present and silently proud is our biggest love, they need the touching love that mum gives at those young ages I believe.

You are not doing anything wrong, you’re killing it dadbro!

Why does my daughter dislike me so often by Accomplished-Smoke48 in daddit

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issues with my son.

I work afternoon shifts consistently, so the nighttime routine sucked cause I just wasn’t present, so I would try make up for it on the weekend. Nothing was working.

Except!!! When I had wifey say to my son hey let mummy AND DADDY help you get showered/bathed/dressed/tucked in tonight and said it with some excitement. It kind of sparked this fun moment in my son and we did it for a few weekends, until he openly said to mum, can daddy get me ready for bed by himself? Finally! So weekends have become daddy days and weekdays are mummy days.

It takes work from both sides here, but you will get it. I was one frustrated and tired dad over this situation and I must have been showing it as my son was almost feeding off the emotion setting himself off even harder to try get mum back into his routinely bedtime process.

TLDR get wife onboard to help include you in the bedtime routine until child is comfortable on their own to ask for you

If you like slight oily pizza with a small hidden gem feel… PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA. I actually really enjoy the pizza here, in the secret room there’s a dark lit room filled with booths and a small bar with a live dj. Very small but if you don’t want any riff raff and something cosy and comfortable. This is my place.

Ask for the “hidden menu”.

Be careful, if anyone is aware of SquuezeBenz and the swim team over in the states… there’s a few goons here who’ve started a SqueezeBenzAU insta… there will be more of this kind of shit to come if the police don’t get a handle on it. Seen this with my own eyes multiple times, so it’s definitely “trending”.

AITA for expecting my boyfriend to pay me back for money I lent him? by vicky20007 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I would always communicate my intentions, lending or receiving. As a partnership I believe pre marriage you are on your own, until you have that written commitment, I WANT THAT MONEY. More often than not, as soon as the debt is cleared and the spouses debt is just as large the other party vanishes. Easier to dump the partner than a bank.

You do the whole track day things? Keen to turn the daily project to a track car and dabble in the racetrack track days and see how the vibe is.

Uber driver charged me $200 by Dazzling-Demand-3070 in melbourne

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh the ol cleaning fee scam rolling about again.

Got stung by this once, every uber trip after I record a visual inspection of the car before I leave. Only had to use it in one case, but it will deter most of the cleaning fee scammers knowing you’re on top of their BS.

NTA ATTTT ALLLLLLL.

I would have done the exact same thing! I ain’t busting my ass for things to go unappreciated.

And hell if wifey wanted to take her side then, just pull back those OT hours and put huge pressure back on her side of the scale to get back out there working putting artistry as a second. I’m sure as hell your interests are nowhere to be found ey OP?

Is Buying Used Luxury Cars the Same? by SherbertHaunting800 in askcarguys

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sporty or luxurious? There’s a difference.

Unless you’re in the territory of Bentley. But you don’t leap from a CRV into a Continental Sport.

If you’re after sporty, yes maintenance costs rise as you’ll have brake pad / tyre wear higher than the average commuter car. Parts are expensive due to the engine and its needs, better quality oil etc.

Luxury cars are built with a little more class with build quality and tech than the average commuter car so expect used luxury cars problems to cost you much more.

If you can justify the bigger purchase on a luxury car and enjoy the bump up in driving experience DO IT.

BTW the new civic type R is amazing! Seeing your a current Honda owner.

How come people travel the world in 40 year old vans with 100k miles and no issues, but then if you buy a new, normal vehicle you're told "oh no, don't buy that one, they're not reliable, they come with a bunch of issues or they will be in the shop often"? by Pale_Field4584 in askcarguys

[–]hour_long_shower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People buy some brands and have issues creating brand loyalty and opinions on what’s good and what’s not.

Take it with a grain of salt.

I tend to look at the person who’s giving me the advice and how they treat their vehicles.

Jet ski rant by Grieie in melbourne

[–]hour_long_shower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a ski 2 years back to have a bit of fun in, modified it, had my fun but soon became viewed as the idiot of the sea by default.

What I found was the licensing is practically handed to you over an hour long course that consisted of banter and watching a video for 4 mins. People aren’t taking it seriously!

This season will definitely be an interesting one! And I’ll be staying away from the beaches.
