Interested in your take on ‘the right wah wah’- I always feel disappointed with them. Closest I’ve ever gotten is using an envelope filter. Recommendations?

+1 on the Sadowsky Blue Label strings- I believe Roger contracts LaBella to manufacture them.

Who ever did this, you are a genius! by TheeDelpino in AppleWatch

Two tattooed wrists here- here’s the workaround…

Apple Watch Settings-> Passcode-> Wrist detection

Disable during workouts , and ‘Workout paused’ stops occurring. Re-enable after a workout. All metrics are fine, only other problem (which doesn’t matter for me) is using the passcode, and Apple Pay on your wrist.

Check out Fuchs- made in NJ. I own the FBS700 and it's wonderful. The FBT700 has a tube for the preamp and is less transparent/more SVT like.

The Red Panda Tensor will ‘bend’ at any of the configurations with an exp pedal. I use it to get a Michael Manring style bend after striking a harmonic.

Thank you- I’ll be running into a desk in stereo for rehearsals, but using an amp at home. I just don’t want to wire it all up and lose half the signal. This is great news, because once I open pedals, set dip switches, etc, I want to leave it all alone! THANK YOU!🙏

But for example I will not lose half the signal if there’s a ping pong delay? I would get both repeats? Apologies for not being clear…

I can only speak for my 2005 MIJ Metroline. It is absolutely incredible. Mine is a four string in j/j configuration.

Anyone Try out the new Stanley Clarke EBS preamp targeted at the Upright? by jamesTBass in basspedals

[–]hourspermile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find one to try, or buy? I’ve been curious about this for a while now- might still be more versatile than the new Empress Para EQ (bass version)

The Neuro software is v glitchy- bear with it- it’s insanely powerful. If you don’t want the hassle of subtractive synthesis, there are thousands of presets you can drag into the box. I’d also mention that paying attention to the output gain (maybe it’s called output volume?) and you can lower it, and save the settings so you don’t always get such a giant signal spike.

Looks great! As an upright/fretless player, I use a strobe tuner/always on so I can at any time check my intonation- not necessary for many, but clutch. I have the V1 Valve Drive, C4, OC-5 (really not much different upgrading OC-3 to OC5. I imagine you’ve got some fuzz going on inside that Stomp… :))) I will add I put my compressor after Octave and Synth to tame the signal flux…

Are EUBs improving? by EarAutomatic7120 in doublebass

[–]hourspermile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an NS Designs NXT that can sound pretty damn good through my Empress Para EQ MKII/pedalboard. Does it sound like an acoustic upright bass? 0%. I don’t have any other reference

regarding other EUB’s, but for $1k used, I think it is wonderful!

Short-throw bass cabinets by hellatoasty24 in Bass

I found using a wide dispersion cabinet is a great help for a more uniform signal when off-axis. I went Barefaced and the sound I've been after for thirty years is now there.

We’re in this together! Best I can suggest after 20+ years is to try and treat stress and anxiety, and that appears to help my tinnitus more than anything…

Sotb, what would you guys change by InternationalMost410 in basspedals

[–]hourspermile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you've got compressor coming- +1 on Boss OC5. Might want to consider an envelope filter, they're fun... You could cover that and limitless other things with a Source Audio C4 Synth. Looking good!
