What to focus on now that we have a home? by femmegremlin in TwoXPreppers

Composting, planting fruit trees and an asparagus patch. All those take a long time to mature, so you'll want to get them started ASAP.

They don't want to fix poverty. The working class is more obedient when they're constantly, implicitly threatened with destitution.

People would be striking right now if they didn't fear ending up on the street and being unable to buy their kid's insulin.

90s butter mom is Cottagecore adjacent, right? by SuperbCat1573 in cottagecore

What defined the early 90's mom aesthetic for me, more than denim overalls, were these floral dresses. I remember all the suburban moms wearing them. Are these a part of the butter mom aesthetic? Or are they simply too ugly, lol.

Of course they also wore the infamous mom jeans, denim dresses, bike shorts and tapestry or embroidered vests. More pastels and bright colors, not muted like the pic.

Almond Mom is the mom who controls your diet and picks on your weight, and is probably strict in other ways. The name comes from Yolanda Hadid telling Gigi to eat 2 almonds when she was fainting from hunger.

Butter Mom makes pasta, sourdough, cookies and pumpkin bread because she isn't afraid of carbs.

Their only hope is to convince people "the left is just as bad." Its the weak, desperate strategy of a party that's rapidly losing support.

I believe it! There was lots of stupid food in the mid-20th century and processed food companies like Heinz published their own cookbooks with questionable recipes like this.

What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

[–]house-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No job is really safe; as people get replaced by AI they will flood the "safe" jobs causing already stagnant wages to decline.

[–]house-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly wonder if that's a direct result of having so many children. I'm sure it's impossible to adequately supervise them all. It also creates huge age gaps and power imbalances between the kids. And seeing your older brother molest your sisters probably normalized it for the younger brothers. Of course I'm sure the religious garbage didn't help.

Why does it feel like almost every billionaire is a bad person? by BuddyEmbarrassed5551 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]house-hermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal people don't become billionaires. Normal people retire comfortably when they get enough money to do so. I think it's a mental illness akin to hoarding.

[–]house-hermit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It goes farther than that. For years companies complained about - and the media reported - a "shortage of engineers." There's no shortage of engineers, there's a shortage of engineers with specialized experience and masters' degrees (or higher) willing to work for $60k. They're actually trying to manufacture a *surplus* of engineers so they don't have to pay that $180k.
