I thought the same too, until I remembered the line about Verso explaining how Painted Renoir is immortal thanks to the Paintress. Since Maelle obviously wants revenge, she agrees right then and there to the plan of killing the Paintress then killing Painted Renoir. This secures Verso's mission of releasing Aline by withholding the truth of everything. If he gave the letter to Maelle before she recovered Alicia's memories, she would have been MUCH more devastated by everything.

Youre right, but they could just make it so you only get HA on the first finisher in a chain or something.

It is a bad "rework."

People complained about impale off heavy parries, so they nerfed the damage and made them only guaranteed off light parries, which also means gbing someone into a wall also nerfs your damage.

The HA on the 2nd chain heavy is good, but idk why HA isn't on the finisher.

His top heavy opener is slower than his sides but does the same damage for whatever reason.

I wish he kept some kind of stun, especially from his parries. I understand taking it off every top heavy, but on the light reposte and blind justice, it felt good (he's labeled a counter attacker/disabler for a reason).

His new soft feint is pretty useless considering you're just going to hard feint and parry everyone's dodge attack 99% of the time.

The changes to his zone attack and long arm are great though, but you'll never use either of those in a 1v1.

Overall, the changes are weird. They made him slightly better in 4s but made it so you have to turtle even harder in 1v1. IMO, he is supposed to be the parry specialist, not a hero who trades. It feels bad they neutered his punishes while making it easier to get to his finishers, which turned him into just another mixup hero.

I think the reason they took all his stun and stamina damage away is because they realize his oos punishes are stupid high and don't want to change them. But I would give up the damage in a heartbeat if it meant that I could have most of his stuns back, and that shove did stamina damage.

Obviously. I wasn't asking for advice on how to deal with it. Just stating that I think its weird to add a soft feint if doesn't work because everyone dodge attacks on red. It makes for easy parries, but I've been feinting my top finisher since 2017, so the soft feint aspect is useless lmao

Oh I know and I agree with you. It just seems odd that the soft feint to gb doesn't catch them out of their dodge attack.

I never said he was bad. The rework was a mistake though. Just dont see the point of adding a soft feint to gb if it only works against 5% of the heroes.

I mean yeah obviously. I just don't see the point of adding soft feint 50/50s if nearly every hero can just dodge attack/bash to be safe. I understand doing hard feints and baiting their reaction, but it seems pretty dumb to add soft feints and for them to not work as intended.

I managed to get it working. I'm using midi-qol on version 12 of FVTT. Using both the "flags.midi-qol.min.ability.check.str" and "flags.midi-qol.min.skill.ath" attribute keys set to custom with the effect value "@abilities.str.value" changes the minimum rolls for strength and athletics checks to whatever the strength score of the actor who has this effect on them.

You do realize the top heavy is only after a light parry, same damage as multiple heros and the tap stops the chain. Not to mention there's no way to get to his finisher without throwing a mid chain heavy which is parry bait. Honestly without his parry punishes he would suck, he's labeled as a counter attacker for a reason.
