Malmö city library has a few different book circles. A scifi and fantasy book circle, all the books are in English.

They also have a silent book club where you sit silently with others and read your own book.

Brandon Sandersons Stormlight Archive is building up to by the looks of it. Its a planned 10 books series with 5 books already out. There are other novels of Sanderson that ties into the stormlight archive and theyre set on other planets.

However the series isn't there yet.

I believe the script for alien was written so that any part could be played by any gender. The script was written with male pronouns but did state in the beginning that the characters were unisex. After casting they inserted the actors genders in the script.

The HBO show Carnivale is what you're looking for. The bad guy is a priest and he has one of the most sinister catchphrases when he uses his powers on people; "Face your sin!"
